just wanting to know which is more effective?

i have 0040

i may not have the skill points to get both.

and i'd like some input on which is best to get? dodge malee defence or a combintaion?

My philosophy is this:

Dodge is a great defense - they can't hurt you if they can't hit you.

Melee Defense can be easily increased with BE clothing - it's a lot easier to buy bonuses to Melee Defense than it is to buy Dodge (though Pikatta Pie helps for short periods).

The way I see it dodge will be more effective since it applies to both range and melee damage.

Go with dodge.

Note however that dodge only applies when you have your pistol or 1-handed weapon in hand.
