Thread: how to beat melee stackers/riflemen?

I am a pistoleer 4344, Smuggler Pistols 4, Bounty Pistols 4, and novice medic. With this template, I find that I can win just about any duel (I know that having novice medic instead of master pistoleer/novice commando is controversial, but I've found that the ability to heal is more worthwhile than extra dodge and accuracy and I don't have a DE 10). I can beat fencers, tkm, doctors, other pistoleers, you name it. The only people I have a hard time beating are some riflemen and melee stackers who constantly use Intimidate II. If a melee stacker uses Intimidate II, plus stun armor, plus a psg on me, I find myself doing almost no damage, and the only way to win is to use DOTS. I don't like using DOTS, they feel cheap to me......what I want to know is a good way to beat Intimidate II. Also, I can beat many riflemen, but some very good ones can beat me easily. I'd like advice on how to beat them as well. Thanks all!

Just a quick comment on your templete, I know that medic is EXTREMELY useful.. but there is one way around it...

Never go pvping solo, always have someone with you that has a developed medic tree... not master or anything.. but maybe... 3230 or just even 2200... you can get some nice B stims..

The point isthat the primal combat skills are going to be more useful to you.. Just to let you know, I've been on both sides of the coin, both w/medic and without.

This sounds like a crazy idea, with the lack of defense your templete offers..... but it works..

And now the answer to your real question..

Rifleman are beaten by blinding them (eyeshot), and (even if you don't like it) torso shot. With a de-10, or even a good scatter, they are toast, every time. With stackers.. fight fire, with fire. The way to beat really all of melee professions is to intimidate then yourselves. Then, use the terrain around you to your advantage. Grant it, if your fighting in theed, its difficult to use your scout skills (but there is that big drop off behind the starport). You can also use the AI to aide you. Food is a big key here.

Keep in mind that the longer that a fight with a stacker lasts.. the more likely they are to win

"I don't like using DOTS, they feel cheap to me......" Everyone else uses cheap tactics on their already functioning professions.....

Ahh, thanks for the tips! Yes, if I did pvp exclusively, I would definitely drop medic. I never heal myself in regular pvp. But I don't really pvp that much anymore, I got extremely sick of being ganked by Jedi....I tend to focus exclusively on dueling now. And medic is definitely essential in a duel, I've found. That is also probably the reason I've been losing to riflemen, then, because I don't use Torso Shot in friendly duels. I try not to give permanent damage in duels, but since I'm holding back like that I guess I lose. I will change my tactics. And you are right, using DOT weapons is just good tactics, I will try them against melee stackers. Thanks again.

Againt melee stackers: Intim+stun pretty much makes their COB and defenses useless and lowers their damage significantly, so keep these states on them at all times. I suggestusing Panicshot/Warcryevery minute or two while spamming Intimidation during their pause.Spamming SupressionFire1a few timesis a good way to keep them kited. I would suggest LastDitch + some Torsoshots if you notice they can't heal. Eyeshot if they have good stims. Use the terrain around if you find they don't have scout. Kipupshot will stand you up if you have been dizzy/kneeled. Eat Thakitillo (Def vs KD) and Synthsteak (I probably spelled those wrong). Keep two PSG's handy and wear your stun armor.

Against rifleman: Keep them Intim+stun+blind. Again, use PanicShot/Warcry to spam Intimidate. Stay very close to them so they have badaccuracy modifiers. Use LowBlow every now and then and Supressionfire1 if they try to get distance from you. Eat Synthsteak and doge food (Pikatta?). Wear your stun armor and PSG's. LastDitch/Torso or Eyeshot depending on their medic and buffs. Make sure to have plenty of mind food handy (Brandy, Blue Milk, Canape, Ahrisa, Muon) just in case.

These methods help me out a lot.

yup, intimidate is the key to beat em...

for riflemen: intimidate + blind = dead MRM

I also hope you have a nice Scatter (400+ max damage) as it will outdamage you geo pretty harsh against anyone with psgs and 30%+ stun armor.

I don't have BH but am speedcapped, and use a 328 max damage DX2

as far as I know kipupshot is a posture up attack and has no effect on yourself.

Aircake is the +40 dodge food (33 fill I think) and kickupshot is not a posture change. It is our personal shot that with a good pistol does a WHOPPING 500 damage (if that) but it DOES at least stand us up if we have been forced down from dizzy or posture change. Just my two cents

Defence Stackers = RUN AWAY, and Spam Intimidate

Exarch - Rebel Soldier, Jumped to Lightspeed too far, far far away into a new World, World of Warcraft, Recruited by the Alliance to fight a similar war in the realm of StormReaver along with the Outkasts of Sunrunner who also found themselves in the same situation. With little hope of return to their Rebel friends they have begun to start again, learning the ways of their new home, trading in their blasters for Axes, Swords and Magical powers. The fight will be difficult, but failiure is unknown to us, for we are the soldiers that struck fear into the Emporer himself and put his armies to shame....

I used to shoot geoblasters in PvP but I have gone over to a Krayt Scatter since PSGs and Stun armor have become so good on my server. (45%/40%). Intimidate them, blind them etc. Still extremely difficult do beat melee stackers though..

We really need the revamp soon.
