Thread: We need a high caliber pistol.

One of the major problems with pistoleers, is the lack of AP on weapons, while the DE-10 has some, its energy dmg makes it useless in PvP and with most of the Npc's out there,I think in order to give pistoleer some kind of balance, a pistol with medium dmg, slow speed, short range and medium AP would be nice,

The slow speed and shorter range would compensate the dmg, and blast/fire/cold dmg would make this pistol, worth mastering pistoleer.

considering naturally, pistoleers are not speed capped, perhaps it would work out under taht assumption, however, dabblers with smuggler and bh would become overpowered being able to spam a 6x damage mod special with an ap2 weapon at cap and would throw things out of whack quite a bit. Rifleman still need attachments to speed cap strafe 2, swordsman and pikeman need tons of tapes to speed cap with their weapons, and carbineers can dabble with bh, but the min damage on their weapons is quite low, and their hamcosts quite high although they dont get any really killer damaging specials, and this would become extremely unfair.Besides, the combat balance is in the works and things will be put on the table for us all to see some time in the near future, so im going stick to waiting for that rather thanwanting the devs tospend developer time away from the JTL beta and such for a temporaryimbalance in power that willonly make otehr peopel complain.

Many people thought that's exactly what the DE-10 was going to be. I'd love to see an AP2 pistol myself, but I'm pretty sure it will remain Pistol(AP1) Carbine(AP2) Rifle(AP3). Combat Balance may level us a bit more with other professions, and I hope we start getting some info about it soon.

This issue has been raised a lot - bear the following in mind:


The Devs stated looong ago that they did not intend there to be AP2 pistols - AP2 and AP3 are the domain of carbines and rifles


It's also been stated that blast damage will remain a commando only type, and that we already get a wide range of damages on our current pistols.


Until we see the combat docs there's little point in discussing this - since the whole weapon speed and damage systems are changing - as is the way AP works.

*Points at DE-10 Pistol* Not high-caliber go to rifleman or carbineer. Otherwise stop complaining. AP1 is good enough for pistoleer. Then there is always the CB on the way which should do this profession justice...hopefully.

Like many, I imagine, I wouldn't mind a higher AP pistol. But to ask of that, it would have to be slower than all get out. And that would be bad for us, as Pistoleers, as it is. We live for the speed of the weapon, no matter how low our damage output is...which is not what it should be.


AP: 2

Damage Type: ? (Not Stun or Blast,they'd be a game breaker, and of course NOT Energy or Acid {DE-10 & DX2})

Min Damage: ?

Max Damage: ?

Speed: Player Crafted around 4.5; Looted ...well it'd depend on the quaility but around 5.5


Something that would be kinda neat about it, would be if it had kinda a knockback for the user. Imagine carrying a Desert Eagle .50 Cal and putting hundreds of rounds down range. Eventually you'd have to stabilize yourself, or you'd be knocked back on your rear.


But personally I don't want to be a carbineer in a Pistoleer format, and I'm afraid that's what we are really asking for.
