Just wondering how i'm going to fare in the GCW when i finally get Master Pistoleer? Right now i'm 1/2/4/3 and so far i seem to be able to kill most things with buffs/brandy and good ubese with the exception of maybe Nightsisters or Pirates on Lok. I'm master musican as well so i can't afford the BH pistol skill tree but i was thinking of getting Dirty Fighting. If i take Dirty Fighting i'll have to sacrifice all of my scout skills though, not sure if i want to do that or not. Let me know what you guys think.

Master pistoleer alone isn't effective in PVP.

You're not speedcapped and your best special is StoppingShot, a random pool shot. I would strongly advise getting at least BH 0020 if you consider doing lots of PvPing. You will be speedcapped, have increased accuracy, and will be able to attack mind with Eyeshot. Too bad you want to keep Musician.

IMO, if you dont go all out for pistoleer, you really are never going to be threat to anyone in PvP. The simple fact that armor is so good no adays, everyone has some medic, there are uber guns all over, you have to have something to be able to beat all of these and come out on top.

For me, mix Pistoleer/Smuggler0040/BH3040 this will give you the sufficent states and damage output that you will need to have a chance in PvP. If you decided to do this here are some tips:

INTIMIDATE: Always, if they arnt intimidated, you are losing the battle. This cuts down on their damage output so much its almost unfair

Stun: Since the most effective shot you will want to be using is last ditch, this shouldnt be a problem, the stun state cut their defenses down by alot, and stacked with intimidate, you will be doing more damage and taking less.

HAM: Most would get eyeshot, and go straight for that in PvP. While this used to be true, the new foods and buffs that have become standard have really changed this. I know i go into PvP packed with brandy, canape, arhisa, and muon, not to mention 125/125 dancer/music buffs. Because of this, you will hardly scratch mind because of the lack of damage done by eyeshot. Go for health.

DoTs: This template comes with many dots that you can stack. Torso shot will put a bad burn on the person, im pretty sure that this tick is determined by the wound % and the damage of the gun, but it is a fact that De-10s with their high wound % put really bad burns, around 250 per tick. This stacked with the bleed from healthshot2 will slowly help you wear their health down.

Shot Choice: Last Ditch has the highest damage multiplier so that will be your go to shot. Torso shot for fire, eyeshot for blind, etc. Mix it up, if you get caught spamming one shot, you will be dead soon.

Equip: Always wear the best armor you can get on your server, 40% stun is good v. rifles and other stun dmg, but make sure kenetic and blast isnt terrible. Always carry a PSG for that extra boost (make sure to equip it after you take shuttles for it to take effect). Eat synthsteak previous to the battle so that your stomach is empty going into the fight. I usually eat some thakillo to bring up my KD defense right before i start fighting. Save another synthsteak for when you get Dizzy/KD (which is bound to happen). This will help you ride out the fishflop and come back still in the fight.

Weapons: Krayt, everyone of your weapons must be krayt or uberloot. Make sure you have a good geo and scatter. And powerups. always power up guns.

Incase i have confused you let me give you an example of a normal fight with a good PvPer.

I start with my De-10 equiped, this works to throw them off because they think you wont hit them with stun. I right off the bat throw a few torso shots their way, say around 3, then i start hitting panic shot until they are delayed.

Now hit peace and intimidate several times until it sticks.

Start putting states on, lastditch until they are stunned, the blind them, and bleeds, then just lay into them with last ditch. Watch their states like a hawk. Be ready to dump your queue should they lose intimidate. Just keep on pounding, keeping these states will ensure you will be taking minimal damage.

Where this can go wrong: If the other player is highly experience, they will have you intimidated most of the time too, if this happens and you in factional PvP, you will find yourself not even scratching some of the higher melee templates. You can keep fighting in hopes that you will wear them down, but i have found that running sometimes is a good idea

If they have medic, you are kinda screwed but it also tells you somethings. If they constantly heal their health that you are attacking, that is good. It means you are winning the fight, and only need to keep up what you are doing. This also means that while they are healing, they cannot attack you giving you time to build back up your HAM. If it turns out they are healing faster then you can damage them, start hitting mind, and pray. Use bleeding shot for a mind bleed and keep states on them while you use eyeshot.

No healing, because of this, any DoT will do you in, before you fight check to find the closest water so if you get a fire put on you, you can jump in and be free from it. If you get poisoned and diseased, you are kinda screwed. I recommend getting poison and disease buffs before any and all factional PvP.

Does anyone else have ideas or something i missed of how to be effective in Pvp?

oh and you need lots of money sadly... (this goes with any prof though) but i found you need somemajor AAs and CAs for accuracy while standing and accuracy while moviing or you tend to miss a lot, im newer with pistols (i was TK for a looong time) and i went out and bought some uber geos and de-10s and despite the very high damage and speed cap and accuracy cap... i didnt scratch them and it wasnt becuase of there armor or ranged def, its cause i missed over 90% of the time... and i had speed over a 100 and accuracy at 125... so i invested another large amount of money into CAs and AAs and now i hit A LOT more and now with those along with my uber pistols there ham bars tend to fall fast even on the mind.. so i guess start savng your pennies and invest in some nice toys and som SEAs..

Thanks for the advice guys, I think you gave me some perspective on how the PvP life goes as a pistoleer. I think i'm going to do master pistoleer and smuggler 0040. I don't care about being uber or being a super pvp'er, i just want to be able to hold my own and contribute if i go with my friends on a pvp raid. Although it sounds like i'll have to save up some credits before that will ever happen anyway.

Thanks,

yup, you'll need three thing to be successfull:

-speedcap (at 94 or so you're even speedcapped with a DE-10)

-good pistols(pupped): at least at400 max geo, 300 max DX2..maybe some dots weapons?

-accuracy (through tapes or food citrus snowcake rules)

oh yea, almost forgot: the smuggler dirty fighting line friggin rules! nothing beats coming across a buffed player without stun armor and dropping him in less then 5 shots

Yah, last ditch is a nightmare to people who are unprepared for the fight, hitting for over 1k damage in PvP is awesome!

SEA's (skill enhancing attachments) are looted from dead npc's, they usually get sold for a lot of money on the trade forums...

the check if you're speedcapped go to www.killyourpc.org/swg >dps calculator put in your stats and the stats of your weapons and presto....

speed cap is about 100 if you check your skills things, seas sell on the forums mostly... most people camp the spot to loot AAs and CAs so your chances of looting them are slim... the best thing to do is save up your credits and buy them on the forums.... to get enough to be competetive you need to spend about 15mil (sadly) to become as much of a threat as i have i spent about 45-50mil on new toys and SEAs... it sucks but that seems to be the way it is nowadays... my 440 max geo cost me about 15mil... i bought 2 de-10s they cost about 12 mil for both, i got mind fire mind poisen health fire and action poisen and were looking at another 6-7 mil there and then about 15-20mil on skill enhancements... but you can still be a decent threat without all that... i just like to win in duels as well as base rades and defenses... and against a melee person in a duel you need some good shiznit to compete

Master pistoleer is okay when fighting people who are not huge pvp uber l33t dudes.. lol. If your pvp ocasionally and have decent equipment(nice geo). Then you should do allright. Practice duels with friends and learn how to use your skills and what foods and armor to wear.
