Thread: Which two fencer lines to take?

I'm going for the Master Pistoleer, BH 0/0/3/0 pistol line and then two lines of fencer. Which two lines of fencer should I take? I was thinking of 4/4/0/0 or 0/4/4/0.I'm looking fora 50/50 pve/pvp template. Thanks.

Well either 4/0/4/0 or 0/4/4/0 , many people argue that the defense vs. dont work. I personally havent really played a prof. without some sort of defense, so I can't comment on that. I have noticed the straight Ranged and Melee defense work, I tend to dodge more.

first, id go bh pistol 4, no point in going only 3 when 4 has torso shot and 10 more accuracy which never can be high enough.
after that, fencer 0440 is a billion times better than the defense tree. the defense tree is like an optical illusion...its looks awesome but its real effect is just an illusion.

Discussed this recently, here's my summary: It really depends on what you're doing, and what you need, but go take a look at the mods given by each line. Personally, I'd be considering one of the following:
4210 would grant +54 melee/ranged def, +20 vs KD and Posture Change, melee mitigation 1
4030 would grant +54 melee/ranged def, melee mitigation 2 and +10 vs Blind/Dizzy/Intimidate
3400 would grant +39 melee/ranged def, +50 vs KD and Posture Change, and cap Dodge like the other two
4210 would grant +54 melee/ranged def, +20 vs KD and Posture Change, melee mitigation 1
4030 would grant +54 melee/ranged def, melee mitigation 2 and +10 vs Blind/Dizzy/Intimidate
3400 would grant +39 melee/ranged def, +50 vs KD and Posture Change, and cap Dodge like the other two

melee/ranged defense is over rated. it wont help vs kd or dizzy. so why not take the KD/posture tree and the dizzy/intim tree? theyd do more than defense imo
but yes like the above poster said, depends on what your doing. and everyone is different with diff style etc etc just pay and have fun, there thats my disclaimer hehe

I don't think the mitigation works if your not holding a melee weapon.

I'm pretty sure Mitigation works all the time - it's the dodge/counter/block that doesn't work unless you're holding the right weapon.

yea, mitigation is passive, like generic defense
the didge block counter are weapon specific

I'd have to put my vote on 0440. That's what I use to PvP with and it does damn fine.

Yup all depends, if you're doing mostly PvP the 0440 would probably be best for the mitigation and defense vs. states. In PvE though, the defense vs. xxx isn't all that useful.
