You get all the specials.....I pretty much only use the following shots -Bleedingshot, Torso Shot, Healthshot 1\2, Lastditch, Lowblow, PMD1, and I have got them all to work with a Launcher.

Depends on what your going up against..... Its knocks the socks of Geo or DE-10 when going up against say an AT-ST or NS Stalker, as these have low or no Blasts resists.A decent one would be a gorax enhanced one, with a good damage slice, I have one that is 330max without PU - not awesome but still, not bad.
Thats the main advantage of having a launcher, as it adds Blast Damage to what you already have, Kinetic, Stun, Heat, Acid and Energy. Oh yeah and it looks so cool when you fire it at stuff about 60m away ![]()
My main gripe with the Launcher is why the hell isn't is at least AP1?????? ![]()

Yep - you get heavy weapons XP.
Although you will find you dont get as much heavy weapons XP per kill as you would Pistol XP, max I seem to get is about 3k per kill for stuff that would give me 5k Pistols XP. But still I imagine, a lot quicker that grinding with an LLC.
