Thread: Elemental Damage ... is it worth it to have higher...for a lower DPS?

Im a weaponsmith looking to see what the pistoleer crowd would prefer.... Asking here since your the people using the guns... i want to make what you want.
Lets say for example the Repub blaster.... Would you prefer to have double the elemental damge for 10 less base DPS? Or if you walked up to a vendor would you like to see just flat out max dps, max speed, low ham, high elemental damage and balanced weapons (as in i make the same weapon 5 different ways)
I would love some input.

i think the elemental being a diffenative number not a range i prefer a hiogher deffinative so id prolly go for a hogher elemental damage but that is just me

I think there's a lot of uncertaintly (at least with me and several others on this forum) as to exactly how elemental damage even works. It's effects don't specifically show up in the combat spam and there's no indication on a mob's stats as to what their resistances are, so elememental damage is probably not a terribly important consideration for most people at this stage. Personally I would probably look for whatever gives me the highest overall DPS, without paying too close attention to either speed or max damage by itself. DPS appears to be a misleading statistic though, so I'd then go try out the weapon and see how it actually performs before I bought another one.
