I must say first off that i very rarely post (and as i can see this is my first time in an SWG forum) but i figured i should share a pretty funny incident that happened last night.
So I log on, and i'm just about to start crafting meds so i can get doctor exp, when a TKA comes up to me and asks to duel. Now i had a very unpleasent experience with a "friendly" duel recently, so i was a little edgy. Then the guy said he just wanted to duel me so he could try out some new special moves "and that he would heal me *when* i get incapped". Well, being a pistoleer i thought i would get KD'd and dizzy'd. Sure enough as soon as the duel started i got knocked down right away, but then something very funny happened. He missed with the dizzy attack, allowing me to get up, knock him down with PMD1 and use stopping shot with my sliced DX2 for 2500 to his action bar, ending the duel just like that.
The TKA was so confident he would win he didn't even bother putting on his armor.
Thought you all might enjoy this uplifting story to relieve some of the tension we get on the forums occaisionally

Just some numbers so people don't get the wrong idea reading this:
2500 damage x.6666 (removing the .5 knockdown bonus to damage) = 1,666 damage
1,666 x 4 (pvp damage reduction) = 6,666
6,666divided by 5 (multiplier for stopping shot) = 1,333
This guy has a1,333 damage pistol. That's about38 times the bonus of krayt tissue. And he rolled max damage! (didn't factor in AP1 because it didn't do anything if he wasn't wearing armor)
Please don't post this crap. People will get the wrong idea about pistoleers. Don't exaggerate, and even worse, don't lie.

Well, now i remember why i don't like to post on public forums....
I did not lie (and next time do not be so hasty to jump to conclusions) and the number i saw appear above my opponents head when i hit him with stopping shot was 2500 (i did not check in the combat tab). I do not know if the game automatically factors in the pvp reduction or not (i do know for certain that the guy i was dueling was incapped in one hit after i knocked him down)
However you wrote,
"2500 damage x.6666 (removing the .5 knockdown bonus to damage) = 1,666 damage"
how would that number change when you add the bonus to knockdown damage. I specifically stated in my original post that the person was knocked down but you pulled out the bonus to damage.
The stats on the pistol i am using are about (not sure on the exact stats)
120-210 damage
2.4speed
I am sorry if i caused any confusion, but i do not appreciate being called a liar and i would hope that you show some restraint in future situations, especially when you are making accusations against someone you do not know.

My mistake. Oh, and the thing about knockdown damage.. I'm working backwards to find the damage of a pistol needed to make that kind of hit. The numbers are spot-on, you just didn't read them correctly or understand them. Maybe my descriptions were poor.
Understand, most people look at the combat tab to see what their actual damage was. I apologize. I'm just really, really grumpy about this stuff.
But I still don't see how you hit for 2500.. I believe that that's the number you saw, but it doesn't make sense. Even rolling max damage and factoring in knockdown, the most you should see with stopping shot with that pistol is 1,575 damage.

Um, why would you leave out the AP1? If he's not wearing armor, then the AP level (1) is one higher than the target's AR level (0), which results in a 25% damage increase. If the target was wearing armor with AR-1, then there would be no 25% increase since the AP and AR would be equal.
Using your other numbers up to that point (1,333 damage) factoring out the AP-1 would give:
1,333 * .8 = 1,066
Now, you got your numbers in reverse, so let's check them going forwards to see if it all adds up (there will be some error due to rounding obviously).....
1,066 * 1.25 (AP-1) = 1332
1332 * 5 (Stopping Shot multiplier) = 6660
6660 * .25 (PvP damage reduction) = 1665
1665 * 1.5 (Knockdown bonus) = 2497
Well, that's an error of 3 damage in the end, which is negligible. As far as I can see your math all adds up.

Unless something has changed, AP doesn't work against Vulnerabilities, and unarmored players are considered by the game to be Vulnerable to everything.

Aristarchus52 is right. Last I checked, it was bugged. You actually deal MORE damage to a resist 24% (or less) target with an AP1 pistol than you would if the target was vulnerable. In other words, the AP bonus vs unarmored targets only works if they have some resistance to the damage type. Since players have no innate resists...

Well that's awfully silly, and I hope it gets changed so the AP counts when the enemy is vulnerable to the damage type.

Hehe, all of this speculation is making me wonder if i somehow got the damage wrong, i wrote this pretty early in the morning too, so maybe i made a mistake with 2500, but i dunno, i can't remember for the life of me now (wish i had taken a screenshot).
Anyways, if i ever post a story up here i'll make sure to be as accurate and careful as possible, so as not to cause any more confusion
