Thread: Do other pistols work???

I was tossing around ideas for templates and have a question I know my Pistola buddies would know.

If I train BH and Nov. Commando and pick up their pistol cert. can I still use the commands from the Pistoleer tree? I am interested in the Scatter and Launcher Pistols and wondered if it would be worth it. I am actually tossing around the idea of using the whole BH pistol tree but only wanted the cert. for commmando. Are these weapons even worth the cost?

Let me know what you know. Enlighten me in the path of the gun! Thanks.

IMHO, don't waste your skill points on getting BH Pistols 4. It would be better to pick up Smuggler Dirty Fighting.

Yes you can /fan with the launcher.

That being said the launcher's stats are not all that impressive. They were included in the Krayt nerf that claimed the FWG5. It will add blast to your damage type arsenal, and the lag induced by the launcher can be used to your advantage. Is this a legit tactic? The jury is still out on that.

On one site someone was saying that when you reach pistol specialist you are cert. for the tangle pistol. Is this true? I thought you had to be a BH for that cert. I haven't been on yet to check it out. Let me know if you know anything about this. Thanks

I guess now my quesiton is this?

What is the best pistol overall at the time? Despite the professional certification needed, what is the best one out there? Both standard and the works (best smiths, slices, powerups etc).

I am curious about speed, min/max damage output, damage type, or anything you would say makes or breaks a good pistol. I know there have been alot of nerfs that have screwed some of our pistols, so I am trying to get a feel for what we have right now.

I have a DX2 right now. I'm not sure about the stats on it but it seems to be a really good pistol. I have heard a lot of people dislike them and complain about missing alot. I have found I miss a lot if I am too far away. Shots that land with my FWG5 miss with the DX2 at the same distances. But we are pistoleers here and that means close ranged. When I get withing 20M (give or take) almost everyshot lands for quite a bit of damamge. I like the DX2, personally, but I am willing to try others if they would be worth it.

I am thinking of a supreme pistol/hunter template once I get a little more advanced in the game. It has some Pistoleer, BH, and a little bit of Ranger. I would be able to hunt any creature, npc, pc, you name it and I will be able to hunt it down and kill it. I just want to best pistol for the job. I have a Clan brother who is a weaponsmith and one that is a slicer. I would even be willing to search the known galaxy to find the best smiths and slicers available so that I can have the best I can find. I don't PvP much but would be interested in helping the Rebellion a little. Anyway...if you can help me please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Stick with the DX2 till you hit some thing with acid res then change to a rep, tangle, or if all else fails FWG5.

DONT get and speed slices, or powerups. Go for damage and/or action down

There is no such thing as best pistol. It is all about damage type. If you look at the striker pistol, that thing sucks, real low damage, no good schematics for it. I got an okay one that got sliced for damage, and even with a powerup max damage is still less than an unsliced dx2. However, if your in a group doing nightsisters, you better have a striker with you, it's the only thing we got that can even scratch them.

Everyone says the dx2 sucks, it does for the most part, til you realize that with a good DX2 your soloing rancor caves. Or for rebel act III, the stormies were just getting eaten last night by my DX2, and it is far from uber.

To be the best you can be, get one of each damage type, I think the best bets are Tangle (Stun), DX2 (Acid and AP1) Republic Blaster (Energy and AP1, the dh17 can be argued as being better, but it doesn't do AP1), FWG5 (Heat). Get those 4 and you have every damage type we can do (please someone correct me if there is another). And remember to /examine your targets, even targets from the same type, for example some pikits resits energy, some dont. Do that and just pick the best too for the job.

Other popular pistols are -

Scout - relativly decent damage, mostly due to low ham costs so you can spam specials with it easier. Energy damage.

DH17 - Energy damage, faster than republic blasters, but no AP.

SRCombat - AP 1 and energy, but is real slow, Republic blasters are generally going to be much better.

We are soon getting a new stun weapon with AP1, the genosis stun gun thingy. It promises to be pretty cool and it certified at Pistol Tech II. I also think a new model of FWG5 is in the works but have no confirmation.

We should get a list of all the available pistols together, when they are certed, damage type, avg damage (like low med high, not real numbers as that always varies), AP, etc.

Drake -

You can't "Get" damage slices. It's random. You get what the slicer can get, and they have no control over this. You can buy a crate of weapons and have them all sliced, but that wastes alot of money and time, and you prolly wont be able to sell the speed slices for half of what you paid for them.

Whats wrong with powerups? I always use min/max powerups.

Did you just reply to yourself as another person? Anyway, I think what "you" were saying was that he has a striker that "happened to" get sliced for damage.

Right now I have laying around either my house or in inventory: DX2, FWG5, SRCombat, Republic and maybe a Scout. I'm glad you pointed out that the Striker is the only one with blast damage. I have been on Dath lately and do not want to light up a NS with my DX2 and no chance whatsoever of accomplishing anything but a wicked, painful death.

I'll keep these suggestions in mind.

Thanks again

I was replying to Drake, who posted right above me. And I screwed up, I never did say what type of damage the striker does!!!

Striker does kinetic, not blast, but it still stands that it is the only thing we have that can touch a nightsister.
