Thread: How much is armor a factor in being successful?

Hi everyone! I just started this game about a month ago and I've been bouncing from a Wookie Medic, future pistoleer to a Human TKA. When I played my TKA I followed some advice and bought a suit of high kinetic armor, bought a lot of buffs and went to Endor and got mad xp. Well, I decided to try the same thing with my Wookie. The problem is no armor. While the buffs did help, I was still getting knocked around a lot more without armor. My question is, can I get away with playing a Pistoleer without armor, or do I need to remake my Wookie as a race that can wear armor?

Wookies are out of luck when it comes to armor. I thought they were adding a wookie armor or natural resistances. But you should probably hold on to your wookie for the time being if he is far advanced.

I don't think armor is completely necessary. If you know what you're doing then you won't get hit much anyway as a Pistoleer. Right now our only defensive moves are Pistol Melee Defense 1, Suppression Fire (from Marksman) and Warning Shot (from Marksman). If you use these effectively then you should be ok. Personally I feel that armor hinders me more than it helps me. I like having something in my secondary HAM's and a full suitof composite will suckthe life rightout of your secondaries. With a full suit of armor I kill myself before the mob even gets a chance because of specials. I do use a Comp. Chest Plate and Boots when fighting high level mobs like Lord Nyax (60k HAM) for example. But I take down Ravenous Tortons (10k HAM) on Rori all the time with no armor and no problem. Also remember, Pistoleer gives you "accuracy while moving" bonuses. Use this to your fullest advantage and you should be ok. Right now it seems like we are a pretty weak class (we kind of are) but we are looking forward to some long awaited and much needed love from the devs with the Combat Balance Patch. Of course, we're not sure when that's gonna happen.

wookie's suck. don't waste your time... you'll eventually re-roll... and if you don't... your destined to be a CH or a crafter.

armor is a HUGE factor in being successful. even the worst composite can have at least an 80% layer to kinetic which will help you alot with leveling. armor is a very big deal. especially in pvp.

if you have CH, then it doesn't matter, if you don't then it does. Pretty much all it comes down to.

ch is pretty much useless in pvp. armor is almost a must if you go up against other armored opponents.
