... because i dropped my top pistol skill to master ranger for a holo. I didnt lose it until I fought with my pistol in battle and got more exp. I know it is supposed to do this... but does anyone know why or if I would be ablet to keep my exp had I not fought.

You are able to keep a certain amount of XP "stored" depending on your highest level in that skill. As you dropped some boxes for the skill points, your max went down.

Using that skill the very next time - A> granted you some amount of xp for using the pistol B> deducted the xp that you were over your maximum storage. Happened to me when I was bouncing around professions.

I think, not set in stone or experienced, if you had switched to rifles let's say, you would not have lost your pistol xp. I don't know, nor do I know anyone who has done that.

Right now I am maxed in several skills andcan't get any more xp until I progress in that profession. Medic for example - I am capped at 30k until I get more boxes filled. Keeps people from saving a lot of xp and suddenly becoming masters I guess. Agree that it sux too.

i was under the impression that you only get to keep 2x the amout of the highest "skillboxcost" in any particular skill. Once you reach that amount you dont get any more experience. If u drop skills below that box, you will remain with the amount you had when you maxed out. If you then train the same skills again the amount will drop regardingthe same rule (2x highest "skillboxcost").

If you hadnt trained that skill you wouldnt have lost experience (at least i think its done like that).

Am i on the wrong track here?

yet I have waaaay over 2x for musician experience.. I'm a master entertainer with something over 150k of it, but never trained novice musician. Maybe it doesn't apply to the Novice XXXX boxes.
