Thread: I dont recommend SR Combat or DX2 pistols
For teh past 4 weeks , i have been testing the SR Combat Pistol and the DX2.
I have been using various makes and models, made by different Master Weaponsmiths who use different materials and experiment differently.
I did not table my results, instead relying on the Combat Spam as indication of how the various pistols were doing.
Fair dinkum, you cant hit the side of a barn with these weapons.
So many misses, added to the 'Blocked' and 'Evaded' shots, andwe've got some terrible pistols here.
This is not a complaint or a whine.
I have read other threads about how bad these pistols are, but decided to find out for myself.
Why these pistols offer bonuses at 0m is quite strange, as we have incentive to stay on the move with the 'Pistol Accuracy while Moving' bonus.
These pistols are only good if you want to jam it in your opponents mouth and pull teh trigger, which is a fools tactic.
So, to anyone starting up the Pistoleer tree, i do not recommend you waste money on the SR Combat Pistol.
You should buy a DX2, but only use it against MOBs who are vulnerable to its damage, and only then to inflict your 'Bleed' shots. As soon as you have them bleeding with Acid damage, switch to a Republic Blaster or a FWG5 or even a Scout Blaster. It is better to hit for a little damage thannot tohit at all.
BTW, the best SR Combat Pistol i found was damage in the range of 105-195 without PowerUp, which sounds good, but with the innaccuracy, it aint worth it.
Hope this helps any new Pistoleers.
I have a pistoleer and a master weaponsmith, so I get to try out all kinds of fun toys. I like my DX2s and don't have an accuracy problem with them. They are moderately fast and do respectable damage. My SR Combat Pistols do not, but **edit** they look cool. They are one of the relatively few guns I can make which will actually show the barrel graphic I've chosen for them and properly display their scopes. Aesthetically, they are my favorite gun.
That's why I'm excited about the upcoming combat overhaul. I'd be a happy gunslinger if I could wield a 'master level' SR Combat Pistol!
Believe it or not, bleeds ignore all armor and resists. Therefore, bleeds should simply be applied with whatever be your highest damage pistol (probably a prenerf FWG5) , even if the target be 100% resistant to that pistol's damage.

Your forgetting to mention that the DX2 and SR Combat are Armor Piercing. That's why they have such low damage compared to pre-nerf FWG5's which are NOT armor piercing. I agreee with the accuraacy issue on the DX2 but as a Master Pistoleer you WILL usually never miss anything with any pistol unless they dodge or block. The SR Combat Pistol isn't the greatest simply because it's max range is like 48m or something which really blows. But I carry one around with me everywhere I go because you never know what weapon you will need. Energy, Heat, Blast, Acid, Kinetic, or Stun. I carry them all around, FWG5, Launcher, DX2, Striker, and Tangle.
Honestly, The Launcher Pistol, The Scatter Pistol, and the Pre-Nerf FWG5 are kings.
Dx2's are great for mobs that take acid damage, but I'm not sure of their effectiveness in pvp. Plus the green lasers look uber
And armor piercing doesnt hurt..
The sr pistol is basically just for show. I bought one a while ago because of how it looked with the barrel on it. It reminded me of counter-strike, but I never use it. Mostly I use my fast scout blasters, which is kinda lame considering its a low level gun...
I say use the weapon that best fits the situation. I use a Striker pistol thats only max damage 140 becuase the bloodsmeared hemek(Spelling?) is only vulnerable to kinetic damage.
I use the DX2 onthe mature merek becuase thats the only weapon its vulnerable too.
I use theDL44 on the Giant Desert womp ratsbecuase they are vulnerable to energy.
You need to use the right weapon for the job,Not judge all weapons based on one creature.
