Thread: Stupid question that everyone must ask... (sorry)
Sorry about asking what must be a very FAQ (but since the FAQ itselfis months out of date
):
What's the best branch in the Pistoleer, ahem, "tree" to go downfirst? I've just got enough XP to choose one.
Is Dodge still broken?
Does Accuracy work?
If not, then is Stances and Grips still the way to go?
Thanks!

Dodge is no longer broken, and accuracy does work. The best line to go up depends on the rest of your template. If you are a Smuggler or have the BH pistol line, go with the Marksmanship line. If you're a Fencer, go with the Grips line. Otherwise Techniques is your best bet.

Great! Well actually, I was an Artisan before this, so I don't have any combat skills except Marksman 0/4/0/4 and Bawler 3/0/0/0. Pistoleer is my first Elite profession (apart from Merchant).
So based on that, Techniques is best?
Thanks!

Yes, I'd go up Techniques ... and, obviously, go up Stances at the same time.
Use BodyShot2 as your main attack. The only exception is when you get FanShot -- that's an Area of Effect attack, so you can use it to kill a lot of critters at once for more xp.
So is Point Bank Single 2 any good? (That's the first thing I'll get.)
Disarming Shot is only good with Lairs, right? But I do get Defense vs Stun with it.
Hmmm! I guess I'll go with Techniques to start off with (did it used to be called Tactics?)
Thanks!

PointBlankSingle2 isn't great. Just stick with BodyShot2for a long time. FanShot is helpful for getting XP when you get it, since it's an area of effect attack and you can shoot multiple critters at once with it.
