I'm about to choose between pistol techniques IV or marksman III. I'm a casual gamer so yeah, even a single pistol level matters this much to me sooo...right now I use stopping shot mostly for general combat and I was wondering if it would better to get fan shot instead of improving my accuracy. I mean, I've heard a lot of good stuff about fan shot but with the damage mods on stopping shot, I dunno if I'd rather get it now or wait...little help?

StoppingShot = 5.0 damage modifier, 4.0 delay modifier, single target

FanShot = 4.0 damage modifier, 2.4 delay modifier, area of effect attack

FanShot is great for PvE -- you can get lots of XP quickly by attacking several enemies at once. Not particularly useful for PvP though ... in PvP it's very situational. I'd probably get FanShot over more accuracy ... since you're a casual player itwould make levelling up a lot easier for you.

well.. i love stopping shot and all.. but you can't really beat fan shot.

i've been going to fort tusken a lot lately. and with a buff.. a pistoleer can level tress in that place. even better if you have a buffed friend tanking for you.

the best thing to do it aim at the farthest one you can hit, and you'll hit everybody else in your path.

anyway.. enough rambling. i'd get fan shot first.. it'll make getting xp for the other tree come much faster

and it's only taken me about 3 days

What i suggest, is that you get fan shot. With that and a good pet (GSP/graul) you can make around 500k xp in less than an hour... (squill cave + tusken bunker solo'ed).

With stopping shot and a greater sludge panther, I can kill kreetles and jawas.

I heard they were going to change the name of stopping shot to "mildly inconviencing shot."

I really thinking stopping shot is worthless.. Only time I use it is when i have to to not do the area effect. otherwise all I ever use is Fanshot.. works the best

Combine it with BH pistol mods and master pistoleer and it totally rocks. Its my best shot.

Fan shot, definitely fan shot. Freaked me out right after I got it though. I was attacking some krayts with a group. Problem was, I was spamming fan shot at the krayt. Well, he was right next to his lair, so I was unknowingly shooting the lair too. About 5 krayts were all over our group in no time. So that's the bad part, but you can obviously see the good part: get more than one critter together in a little group, and you can kill all of them in the same time and number of attacks it would normally take you to kill 1.

Question:

If you have a pet tanking, and you fan shot the furthest mob, how do you stop the other mobs aggroing you instead of the pet?

Have the pet aggro each one, before starting the fanshots?

Make your pet(s) attack the "side" targets, and you fan shot the main target. Pets will hold the aggros back, and your main target will tend to keep attacking what it's attacking.

i hate fan shot for awhile...i still used stopping..cause description said hits SINGLE target multiple times..and in combat chat it showed one hit..so i said F**K it...then one day i hit it near a lair..and saw i hit 6 at one time all for 1300+dmg...i dropped my jaw and uh..soiled my pants. Now i can take down 6 GSP in 40seconds. I LOVE IT..DONT LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT!....so what if its less dmg..your hitting 6things at once..i'd say thats almost 1 shot every .25 seconds...nice speed modifier

just another note .. i went into theed cantina that had 5-6 people in it today .. used fanshot and killed them all . .
