Thread: I think mitigation might actually help our proffesion, (prolly not what u think)
How?
Because it might actually cut back on fanshot dabblers and give people some incentive to master our proffesion, thats how.

That is true...its obvious the devs are trying to put a little more incentive into mastering the respective combat professions...the new weapons and professions reorganizations will likely also reflect this. Making it so you can get a decent amount by dabbling, but adding lots of extra incentive at mastering.
Also, Mitigation's final effects we won't know for sure until we see what new weapons the Devs are going to give us in teh coming months...weapons with small range differences, for example, would nullify much of mitigations effects.

But why would they embark upon such a sweeping and disruptive change without wanting toalter the end result? To go through all of this to end up in a month or so at the same basic point doesn't make sense to me.
I can only think that they are attempting to fundamentally change the mechanics and the outcomes of combat.
Like you said though... hard to tell what the end game is until all the shoes drop.
They will be changing the whole combat system in four patches.
People will still dabble, They will just choose to master pistoleer, stack on smug specials and still be the same. The only thing it will change is the amount of time u have to spam the kill shots... since the mitigation does not give u 60% resistances... It will only make a gun that does100-400 do 40-220...it seems 80% comp will make killing anyone even longer. Those who do not wear armor will find alot of downtime.
I freely admit that I'm a dabbling Pistoleer (0/0/4/2) but only because all my other dabbles are in non-combat.
I'll take the 40% Damage Mitigation and be happy.
