Pistoleer Archive
Thread: Commando/Pistol, your opinion?
I sat down tonight and tried to come up with a universal build, that i could do most everything in the game on my character. I want to craft, i want to PvP, i want to be able to do PvE.
Currently im ch/commando. Frankly im sick of it.
Heres my plan.
Master Armorsmith - this covers the crafting, and helps bring in cash hopefully.
Commando 0 0 4 0 - Great PvE damage
I have 32 skill points left. Commandos just dont cut it in PvP IMO, they get torn to **edit** without any defense mods, and that long delay. I can invest in any of those marksman elite classes and not have to gain any prerequisites.
My thoughts are as follows
Pick up 4 0 0 0 first, the dodge provided by this will greatly assist in dodging (even while i have my flamethrower out? correct me if im wrong here please)
And well i've got enough to climb 3 more boxes. So, my pistoleer will then be
40 0 3
This provides a knockdown, with addtion to more melee defense. With all that dodge, ill be hard to hit, plus knockdown. If i can get a knockdown off, that persons as good as gone.
Opinions would be awesome. Will dodge work with the flamethrower out, one of my bigger concerns.
Ok, first off, Commando Flame IV does have it's problems in PvP I'll give you that
Properly buffed and with a good enough gun though it can do fairly well in PvP. Pistoleer is a nice addition, especially since that works with the Launcher pistol... which if nothing else can annoy the heck out of your appoint, and cause epileptic seizures.
As for the skills in Pistoleer to go for... I think you might not want to go with what you've got. The 4 in grips is good, I believe the dodge works regardless of weapons, or at least it seems to for me. As for the 3 though... the Knockdown isn't really worth it. Sure KD1 is good, but there's currently no point going up 3 blocks for the second knockdown because it doesn't work. If you wanted a better investment, go up techniques at least 2 blocks and get doubletap... it would be even better if you could get stopping shot or fan shot, but double tap will at least do some damage.
So basically in summary, the commando will do good close range damage in PvP (and decent long range) but you're going to need to re-think the pistoleer setup if you want damage support from it.
