Thread: I've lost the will to fight back.
I've been thinking about this, and here is my opinion.
Smugglers are not a combat profession on their own. Panic shot should have always worked like it is is going to work in patch 7. It is a shot that you use to get your non-combat butt out of trouble. You panic shot them, they are delayed for 10 seconds (my belief is it should be more than 10 seconds to facilitate you getting away), and you high tail it out of there or get help from your combat buddies. Smugglers are the worst designed profession in the game (and Commando is next, IMO.) There is zero content in the game for Smugglers really, your whole existance at the moment is to slice weapons/armor and provide spice. You're not smuggling anything.
OK, that's digressing onto a side rant that smugglers were borked from the start. Anyways, you're not a combat class, and you shouldn't be much more viable in combat than someone with just unarmed IV or just pistols IV. You should get enough that you can escape from most situations, but not enough to be on the same challenge level that say someone with 2 disciplines of an elite combat profession can get.
IF you want to be a smuggler that'sbetter in combat, you should have to pick up an elite combat profession. Smugglers shouldn't have pistols and unarmed as their pre-reqs. They should have Engineering IV and Domestic Arts IV (explains slicing and spice crafting.) If that was the case, that would leave the Master Smuggler with 144 skill points to spend in other professions, more than enough to master an elite combat profession to get your Han Solo template of the master smuggler/master gunfighter.

Anyways, Panic Shot isn't being nerfed because of Master Smugglers, it's being nerfed because of pistoleers/BH's who grab dirty fighting so they can LB/PS/ then follow with 10 LD before the target can get up.
Welcome to Smuggler...they can take away our ability to KD and delay a target so we can have an easier chance of killing tough things...but heaven forbid they touch melee KD dizzy.
Don't worry someone at SoE has a kid that is playing a TKM (hence the lack of any nerfs) so you should be ok.Unless he decides to play another profession.

i'm a true master smuggler ( master pistoleer to be able to hit anything lol, and master tk for the otherwise useless unarmed branch of smuggler ), as i have found out in the last week the template i have is now nearly useless!!!

tk is not the force it once was
because of the introduction of melee defence ect.. it is almost imposible to knock certain classes down. I have spent a lot of time perfecting my professions and love them all dearly, i would love too see pistoleer be the class it should be ( hit hard fast and always on target ), tk ( leathal if you allow them to get close enough ), smuggler lol ( let us smuggle something/anything, when they took away speed and acuracy mods long ago we were told it was not fair because we had the most devastating specials with a pistol in game, now they are taking the joy of being able to put someone down and delaying there next move for 10 sec's.)

I'm going to have to disagree with you somewhat. Smuggler is not a pure combat profession. But it is a combat profession. The pre-reqs are Unarmed and Pistol. Both combat requirements. They have a whole branch dedicated to combat (Dirty Fighting).
They aren't a pure combat profession like Commando, Pistol, TKA, etc. But I usually call them a Secondary Combat Hybrid. Like CMs. They have some combat skills, but are not for pure combat.
The reason for some combat skills among them is the enviroment they are suppose to be in. The criminal element and such where they would have to learn some skill to protect themselves from harm if they are going to succeed.
A delay shot that breaks when damage is done is pretty worthless. In some cases the autoattack will fire before you can /peace and break it. That already happens frequently with /warningshot. That alone will make this skill of very limited use.
There were better ways to change this. You could have put in a timer. Once it was used on someone it couldn't be done again for a certain amount of time. That would stop or limit the combo you were talking about.

so explain to me the difference in this and being KD by a TKM, then dizzy where you cant get up, and watching him beat the snot outta you while you can do nothng about it. if panic shot needs a nerf, then all the melee KD, dizzy, or warcries need nerfing too.
pistoleer on its own is ok (yeah im master) but i only use about 4 specials, bodyshot 2/3, fanshot, stopping shot, and pistol whip 1. now that bleeds, well dont really work too good, ive stopped using em and only ever bother if its a high resist mob to all of my pistols.
anyway the point im tryin to make is, my lord how much fun i had last night. i'd forgotten how much better master pistoleer is with the smuggler specials, its just really come alive again. pistoleer without smuggler specials can get quite tiresome tbh, and i was thinking of dropping the whole class altogether (hehe and b4 anyone flames, ive been pistoleer since i started back in september) and taking up swordsman.
but last night i was thinking i dont know if i can, with it being this good. randged KD, delay shot, bit of feign death if u do get into trouble......lol and thats not even thinking about last ditch......
and now they are goin to nerf it?????

I want to start by saying I will never drop pistoleer, I am a gunslinger 1st and formost,
I just hope someday they will fix us,
ist off SR combat pistol um was this a joke?
where our elite weapons? i still use a fwg5 and republic cant find anything better, maybe dx2 with a good slice, we should have some sort of special weapons(we are master PISTOLEERS!!!) still using everyday weapons, gunfighters are all about tricked out specialty pistols ie.. lone ranger lol,
a special weapon classification at Master pistoleer, would be some sort of recognition for those dedicated to the craft not the faint hearted who just grab a tree or two.
i can spam the crud out of pistol knockdown 2 and target wont budge i hit knockdown 1 bam there on the ground huh ??
of course disarming shot 2 nuff said there
I would love to see both my hands blazing with pistol fire but i would rather see the specials fixed
i know pistoleer is not the strongest combat prof in the game nor should it be. but we have to relly on our speed, dealing out damage by the volume of shots we fire as opposed to having our specials actually work right. now i could keep going but all in all i love being a gunfighter always will lets just keep beating our drum someone is bound to hear it!!
