I think it might help to know the rest of your template and what you plan to use pistols for...

Sorry to put you down , but I don't think you will be effective with allof the boxes in pistoleer unless grouped with Smuggler Pistols and/or BH Pistols and in your case, you can't afford that many points. But, another proffesion might not be bad, such as a melee proffession since you will be able to warcry / intimidate. Id take TKA or Fencer myself, but im sure the other two could be used effectively with the right equipment. TKA with the meditate would allow you to meditate your wounds away and disease/poisons, but would be a little less effective(offensivley) because it has no +combat bonuses in the Meditate tree. Although 0/4/4/0 is probably the best two offensive/defensive trees in your case since you also get the benefits of the meleemitigation2 and unarmed toughness. Fencer isn't bad either, you could take 0/4/4/0 in that and have all the dodge they get (except the master mod) and have the MeleeMitigation2 from that proffession as well, you can target a single pool(BodyHit3) at the same effectivness as a Master Fencer (minus your speed). Hope this helps. PM me if you have any quick questions or throw the new Cor. one .

/agree kadgarth.

TKA can function perfectly well with only 2 colums filled.

You speed cap at level 4 in power techniques and get decent defense from line IV.

I am assuming that you are all pve seeing that 190 of you skill points are invested in none combat.

On that note, if this is the casethen you want swordsman. swordsman is by far the highest dps profession for pve.

I would recommend 0404 swords man. First you would get the speed row melee 2 hand headhit3 so you can focus on mind of creatures. Also you get the scythe certification with is a fast and accurate sword. Not to mention with a speed sliced hammer you will stil own creature mobs. If you are getting combat for pvp id give up now.

You did mention pistol but im telling you with only 63 skill points to invest into combat my idea will keep you alive.

"I don't have to outrun the Krayt Dragon," says the first one as he finishes lacing his shoes, "I just have to outrun you!"

I've actually got a similar question. I'm MBE/MCH. This gives me enough SP for a single line of a single combat profession (or three boxes in one line and one box in another).

I like pistols, being closet to my pets but still being able to move while firing is nice. I was told to go 0040 for Fanshot, which I've done. Fanshot is a nice special, but nothing purely amazing.

However the specials damage/delay table seems to suggest that this may not be the best. Fanshot's damage is x4, and the delay x2.4. Divide damage/delay, you get 1 and 2/3. However, only half of this damage will be applied to health, statistically. (On big targets, it will take multiple shots, half the shots will damage health, so only the damage to health pool really counts.) This then gives .83333 as fan shot's final...number?

Healthshot 1 has a damage multiplier of x2 and delay of x1. Divide damage/delay, you get 1. But since the damage will always be targeted at health, it doesn't have to take the 1/2 division. So isn't this suggesting that over extended periods of time against mobs (not lairs) healthshot 1 will do more damage than fan shot?

I know this is factoring out fan shot's ability to hit multiple targets and the .8/.1/.1 breakdown, but the former is irrelevant when discussing a single target, the latter applies to both specials.

Anyway what I guess I'm asking is with 17 skill points (not counting novice), what do I do for maximum offensive power? For the most part my pets can tank, so defense isn't an issue. Or am I better off picking up the Ryyk blade (I'm a Wookiee) and grabbing a single line of fencer?

I hate to pester - yet an answer would be greatly appreciated. Not counting novice, 17 points to put into an elite combat profession. My preference is pistoleer, so is this viable as a non master? If so, which line do I do? If not, what is a good alternative?

It's probably relevant that I'm also mch/mbe

I'm going to tell you to stay away from ranged professions. Your primary of Master BE puts you in close to the aggro during DNA sampling. Provided you have some creatures out to help you tank....Fencer is by far the best combination to have as a MBE/CH. It's what I use and I very rarely ever go to the cloner. Good buffs, Good Brandy and good Mask Scent Clothing will see you through alot of aggro. I often times tend toget tangled up with Merek Harvesters and Mutant Rancors during DNA sampling. As long as I have a pet out, I'm golden. It may take me a goodbit to beat them down with the gaffi but, eventually they fall. You'll need to buy gaffi's by the crate....lol. The Intimdate, Bleed2, Dizzy, and Blind states I give them, hang in there real good. I have pets that back me up with Intimidate and Blind..they stick their specials too.

By enlarge, Fencer (Footwork 4), is a BE's best friend, next to TKM. We inherit alot of disease and poison in our line of work. TK meditate is a beautiful thing when that happens.....lol.

Good luck in your choice!!
