That gun is a fake until proven otherwise.
As for roots, see the focus thread on stopping shot in the Pistoleer Issues sticky.

yes i have noiced the jedi root can be cycled over and over kinda alost make a chain. is there a way we could push for like and anger so u are imune to it for a short time and bring down the recycle time on our root so we can beter crowd control cause being able to root but every 2 mins is not good crowd control only really good if u guys are fighting only one player. but i guess the jedis(who have a root that has like a timer with a speed of quickdrawl) forgot to tell the devs about but got us nerfed tho
also have u tried teh arms that give u +15 range so u have a lil bit of a cusion between saber throw and u?

Read the Stopping Shot focus thread, Force Suppression is in there too.

Tell you what, roots are powerful, and till now have mostly fought templates that don't use root. Dishing out root is great, however when the tables are turned.....
Then things changed, I'm on the receiving side of a root.
Force Suppression cycles wicked fast and well being a pistoleer, I'm always in range of Saber Throw and Force Suppression. I almost am perma-rooted on a one-on-one PVP. Most of the time, you root, KD, kite and then root again. However on the receiving side of a root, it's tough to counter and you can only take in so much synthsteak, before root runs out. The bad thing about our root, is that if it misses, you have to wait for a LLLOOOOONNNNG time, while force suppression cycles fast. Don't get me wrong, but it'll be great to have a root timer on the target akin to the Knockdown/Daze timers. That way you can cycle root over and over again till it hits. Root shot won't stick unless you take Pyro, and most times Jedi take Vayerbrock which improves saber block.
Any tactics to avoid root? and to fight within a saber-throw range? Is it worth it to get the cyborg arms to stay around 40-50m and still use a pistol?
I love pistols, and for PVE melee fighting, it's the king. Kimos, Krayts, Goraxes, Nightsister Sentinels all fall prey to my pistol.PVP, i'm having second thoughts. Then again a PVP template is totally different than PVE. PVE, the AI is quite predicatable, and mobs don't perma-root you and wack you within close melee range.
I don't know, any advice from successful pistoleers out there? It seems that if I fight Force Lightsabers/ Force Healers. Ido okay and it's mostly a battle of mind conservation, slow attrition and kiting.... As for Force Enhancers, the constant perma-rooting leaves me wicked vulnerable to melee attacks, and being on the other side of a root is totally disconcerting. As for other elite templates, it's not that bad. Healers you attack their mind, melee you kite, and ranged you get up close and personal. This works great w/ rifleman.
So in essence here's my question:
How do you fight against Jedi who have root attacks?
I figure this is the best place to ask, as Pistoleers we use Stopping Shot, and where better to ask a question...
