I just came back to the game, quit the day the curb launched because it killed all my gear.....and I'm wondering if pistoleer got better or worse with the curb (still broken specials? low damage? how are the defenses now?)...

only bright part is I can use me DE-10 now without being M Pistols

thx for any usefull info you might give me.

Pistoleer is probably the most improved profession in the CU.

Agree completely, We're still low damage but thats not our purpose really. But we are very useful. I really enjoy what pistoleer has become and am quite glad to have it be the only combat profession I mastered.

mmm maybe a bit more info would be nice pistoleer was right behind rifleman pre-curb if you had some good pistols, if it got a lot better it should be best now?

did all our broken specials got fixed?

A bit more info:

There is no "best" ranged profession anymore. There are still a lot of rifleman, and there are now a LOT of carbineers, and Pistoleer is also extremely popular. In fact I would say that the CU did wonders for ranged professions and their popularity.

I can tell you that I consider the specials in Pistoleer to be damn nice. There is some debate as to whether certain shots are working as intended, and Badger is currently lobbying to get the root rules changed and as a result modify our root shot to be more effective. But overall the CU gave Pistoleer a lot of love. There are things we still want, of course. We want dual wield. We want holsters. We want the DE-10 returned to it's former glory. Some want the range restrictions changed, others want stopping shot only at master. Some want the movement hindrance removed, and so on and so on.

But I can tell you this: You will see more pistoleers ingame than you ever saw pre-CU. Are we perfect? Hell no. But we are a lot closer to it than we were. And there is also a very active and healthy community on the pistoleer board.

My advice? Forget everything you knew about pre-CU pistoleer and combat in general. Just about everything has changed. I think you will like it. I hated it at first, and I almost quit. But it grew on me and now I love it

I hated it as well... And did quit for over 3 months, returned, got use to it! Retired my long, long Bounty Hunter carriere and im now just trying to do things i never did cause i was hunting 24/7 pre-CU! Pistoleer has become pritty nice, always loved it! Even back in the "old" days when i had Master Marksman, Master Scout i still dabbled for 0043 Pistoleer

We are having a discussion also on Master Pistoleers "end" content.. Right now its just collecting +25 Speed and +25 Accuracy, buying über Pistols, for some even go Jedi! There are many interesting things going around like someone above me said like Holsters, Master Quests and so on!

Looking forward to see future changes and Badger is one hell of a Coropondent /thumbsup

cringe...pre curb I had my end content some speed and acc, FS speed and acc, uber acc and dodge food, a 384 max DX2, a 506 max Geo and a 633 max DE-10 (and even a 400 max rep blaster, hell..I even had a scout and DH17 with over 300 max damage)....but they all got really screwed by the curb, so I'm back to square 0, but without cash lol

clean slate start it is!

We do less damage overall than a carbineer or rifleman, our root is nerfed into oblivion so our crowd control abilities are left to our uber disarming shot mez that lasts maybe 5 seconds if lucky( I've seen it break at 2 most often without dmg taken), we dont get a snare, we only have a 35m range, our master pistol sucks, but yea we're the most improved class.

We also get the most efficient damage shot in the game for the action used

And a KD

And our weapons are easier to cap out than any other profession

And we get MUCH better defenses than either Carbs or Rifleman

And we run faster with our weapons out

And we are the ONLY ranged profession with a true root

And our kinetic weapon has a higher damage AND speedcap than either the Carbineer or the BH kinetic carbines

And we get the fastest recycling shot

And we get an intimidate shot

So yeah, we are doing pretty damn well. We have an amazing array of attacks and abilities, and we are more versatile and more dangerous in many ways than our other ranged counterparts. Of course, the ability of a particular class is difficult to quantify....which is why so many of us prefer to talk about templates rather than professions.

Comparing professions is like comparing puzzle pieces : Each is incomplete in its own right, but gains its true strength when combines with others to form a complete picture. As a profession in general though we are doing quite well in the CU. We require a different playstyle than most professions, and I think that confuses some people. Personally I cant imagine ever dropping pistoleer.

with general mods and some really cool specials that work with any gun I'd say master pistoleer is probably one of the best additions to a ranged template that you can get. The weapons themselves need something though, I haven't played much with elemental damage and maybe that'll be the trick that puts a pistol back in my hand.

as for range limits....don't get me started.

mmm apparently you can get 10m extra range with a robot arm...

I'm wondering if the dam/speed and sac mods of all specials is known...eg. atm I have both spray and fanshot...very similar but I don't believe they have the same mods....

The best pistoleer template no longer includes bits of fencer. Heck, pre-CU I was pretty sold on a pistoleer template that included more of fencer than of pistoleer as the "ultimate" pistol wielding template.

Works as a standalone profession aswell. All in all, Badger really said it all: We've improved a lot come the CU, and it's not all that hard to argue that we're the most improved profession either.

Why'd you want to know, for the best DPT you want to alternate them anyway?
