Thread: Stopping Shot should do +Posture Down+
Right now, this attack does devastating damage but is never the best killing attack for a pure (non bounty hunter dabbling) pistoleer.
IMO, this attack needs to do a posture down attack like suppression fire to make it "stop" an opponent in its tracks without overbalancing with a ranged knockdown.
Any support?
I absolutely agree and I've been pushing for this for a long time.
Stopping Shot needs to actually stop an opponent. Forcing a posture down effect uses an existing game mechanic to achieve this modest goal.
Well, the only thing there is it makes suppression fire redundant.
I still like the idea of it added a stun effect, even though I don't even know what a stun effect does.
Suppression fire is made redundant by ActionShot1 in the marksman carbine tree also... this is no reason to block this on Stopping Shot.
Suppression Fire is also lower HAM cost and has a faster recovery time than Stopping Shot.
For the skill point expenditure StoppingShot only benefits dabblers, it needs a useful effect. I posit that DisarmingShot1 should have a chance to stun and StoppingShot should have a chance to lower posture.
It should do something.. anything. It is really only useful for BH/Pistoleer hybrids.
The problem with Posture change (down) is the delay on Stopping Shot is so long that the target would sometimes stand up before you were able to fire again.
I could see it doing any number of other things.
Actually the delay isn't bad... your strategy could be to use Stopping Shot to help close the gap instead of helping you kite.
Stopping Shot your opponent, run up and try to pistolwhip, pointblank single (hahahaha sorry had to say it), equip your vibro knucklers, etc.
