I hung in with it from release.

... And it's now the most buthcered and gimped class next to Chef and DE.

I waited 2 months for a decent fix to make this class (coupled with master doctor) to be reasonably fightable against others in PvP.

That hasn't happened.

More than half the special attacks don't function and Fan Shots Cone affect is iffy at best. At least with the old fan shot I could fight off a commando by staying at greater than 25m and kiting him. I could give a good fight and if not win a battle with a BH by being a bit savvy about terrain and attack types (even with the BH on Tat Sunburn, the high medic mind pool helped against those with the stuck Eye Shot keys). But now ...

I like a challenge better than anything, but our weapons are like straws and spitballs against an ever reloading howitzer. Our special attacks pale miserably in conjunction with other classes and there is really no point in being a master in this class since the great disadvantages are the lack of functioning specials and failure of defense mods.

Today, I was discussing with friends and guildies how I had reached the end of my rope about with Pistoleer as a class, and what dio you know!? I get a Light Holocron that says go be a combat medic!

It was a sign from the SOE overlords ... I must obey.

I really hope something is done to make this class competitive someday. I enjoyed being able to PvP and having the difficulty of it increase 10 fold by this patch just didn't help, it was already a tough situation before the patch ... now it's just a waste of time I'm afraid.

Oh for the love of Darth Vader! Try SL for a week. Pistoleer is far and away better off. Try carbineer (so I hear.) Pistoleer is far and away better off.

I agree it has its combat problems...but...next to my SL profession I glory in what I can do as Pistoleer. Have fun as a CM...

Hehehe. Well sorry, but you don't seem to have a single idea on how gimped it can get. Really try a Squad Leader or a Carbineer or a fencer or a swordsman for a while. And then come back and talk about gimpyness.

I´m a master pistoleer and I can own any BH....

Ever tried Stopping Shot with a Krayt enhanced FWG5 with 480max damage? 3 shots and they´re down.

try it and then you tell me if pistoleer sucks....

wear a 80% acid resist composite helmet ( their eyeshot won´t even scratch ya) minda buff with a dancer....

if you say pistoleer sucks in PvP, man you really gotta get more skills in PvP.

go train some skills before coming here whinning.

This class isnt that bad, considering the 93 sp it takes to master. I hold my own very well in pvp. See ya later.

Of course if you fight an opponent who isn't anywhere as prepared as you, you'll win, even if it's an eyeshot spamming BH. Assume for a second that your enemy BH is also wearing composite, using a top of the line krayt scatter and buffed up as well. Your FWG5 or 80% resist helmet isn't going to save you. We can even take it a set further and say the BH has a full set of master doctor buffs and wearing a PSG.

I pvp with my master pistoleer all the time. And yes, for practically every unarmored opponent, I just cruise right through them without even needing to heal afterwards. But if I come up against a BH who is as prepared as I am, I'll need something extra to get the win.

But isn't that kinda how the relative character power structure is supposed to work? Given equal preparedness and buffing, armor, etc etc...what use is a bounty hunter that can't bounty hunt an equally prepared foe?

Well, relative power between classes is still something that definitely needs balancing. For example, a master rifle can potentially kill me with greater ease than any BH can. A master rifle can even just hit me with a single good mind bleed, and I'm basically dead woman walking (I'm still waiting for the developers to realize that a master doctor should be able to heal bleeds far, far better than a master medic).

But really, my point was that you can't judge how good your template is until you meet an equally prepared opponent. 90% of the people out there still PvP unarmored and unbuffed and then they come to the forums and cry nerf after being killed practically instantly.

You are 100% correct. When I go overt I slap on a new powerup, I take some spice, I put on my armor and I know exactly where I need to be when the downer hits. My opponents will always see me buffed and armored. Most people I fight don't have the HAM to measure up let alone the gear and mental preparedness.

I use a Krayt Pistol. I use Buffs (I am a Master Doctor). I use spice (Muon Gold is great stuff). I have great Composite armor. I killed many peeps in PvP.

Now :

1) Spice and food are bugged and unreliable.

2) No decent attack against even a moderately armored foe. (25% of Stopping shot is slightly better than a double tap at 25% - tested it several times since PvP has been my game for a long, LONG time)

3) If you are mowing peeps down that fast, you are jumping the low level toons. I try to hit certain groups I usually PvP with that actually know a bit about the game. You remember the challenge thing I mentioned? The thing I like? Yeah, thought you did.

4) Carbineers don't do badly at all anymore. They do quite nicely in PvP. SL's are a group support character and that's their purpose. I know a fencer who does darn well also. Pikeman are the gimps as well. A pistoleer is a dueling/fighting class that can do very little of each anymore.

It was hard but fun before with a great chance of victory. Now it's just not as much fun cause no matter how well you use your surroundings and your toons advantages, you can get killed by a guy who hits you with a flame dot.
