Thread: Drowning in a sea of anti-pistoleer bile
I am NOT saying that we are the only profession with problems, and I am NOT saying that our profession is the most broken one. What I AM saying is that we have our share of difficulties, and I am seriously growing weary of the tension aimed in our direction.
I've just had it! I can handle playing a combat profession that doesn't really work, I can handle not getting fixed anytime soon (on those counts we are no better off than anybody else), but what really gets to me is how much everybody hates us. This is what almost pushes me into dropping Pistoleer. I'm not terribly well informed on what the problems are with the other combat professions, but from what I have read about us:
1) We have the lowest raw DPS in the game because of the way speed works
2) Our specials (all of them, except Body Shot 3*) are random HAM with no state effects, resulting in, in effect, half damage (only a 50% chance it will land on the health pool, which is the pool that kills a pistoleers target every time in the end)
3)Some of our specials are either bugged and do nothing, or by design do nothing (disarming shot 1 & 2)
4) Last and least important, our best weapon (the Republic Blaster) has a broken cert that never works for anybody.
Now we are getting some defensive bonuses. A lot of people are, thank goodness. Some people feel left out, and this is unfortunate. I wish that everybody were getting them, but they aren't right now. The fact of the matter is that these defenses almost never "fired," and they were consequently raised significantly. What I don't like is how almost everybody is getting these bonuses, yet the Pistoleer is getting by FAR the most flack for it.
*Body Shot 3 isn't as good as Body Shot 2, the Marksman special. I think this is the same way for Leg/Head shot 3.
It'll be like christmas, with all the other kids opening their new firetrucks and Lego sets we will be stuck with socks and underwear.
There have been several posts with the number value of our defences from test, but none about how hard we are to hit, or kd on test. Who's to say this patch will change anything for us but the numbers in the skill mod box.
No,you just nerfed yourselves by getting your Fan Shot special changed to, yet again, nothing special.
Cone AoE. Learn it.
Nerf ourselves? Maybe, sort of. But it's a stretch. Some pistoleers were saying "why is fan shot AoE, when multi-target pistol shot is supposed to be, but it doesn't work?"
So they took away Fan Shot, and didn't fix Multi-Target Pistol Shot. But a lot of pistoleers liked fan shot the way it was. I honestly don't think the pistoleer forum had anything to do with the change.

Only at Master levels. At novice because of the way speed works you aren't that bad off. You just loose this advantage as your speed increases and you hit the 1 sec cap.

Health Shot 2 is also specific. But then again all three of the elite combat professions have this problem. All specials are random except for the Bodyshot/Healthshot, Headshot/Mindshot, and Legshot/Actionshot. So all of the professions have that same problem.

Again this problem occurs in all three of the elite professions. It's not specific to Pistoleers. I'm sure even the melee classes have this same problem.

Don't expect the Republic Blaster stats to stand. a 0 mod at max and min? My personal opinion on this one is that they aren't going to fix the cert until they redo the base weapon stats. If not you will see nerf calls for the Blaster if it's fixed. A pistol that is +0 at max while a rifle is -50 at 64m? Personally I'd rather see them fix all the elite weapons first. Make them truly "elite". It's sad that most Pistoleers use a FWG or Scout, Carbineers use Laser Carbine, and Riflemen use a Laser Rifle. We've worked hard to get our "elite" weapons. Make them worth something.

Exactly right. The level three shots do a little more damage but at a much higher HAM cost.
