Heres how it should work....

A Bounty Hunter should not have a nerfed eyeshot, after all they should be the most powerful class in the game. Heck, if should be like in the movies. Jango had a Flamethrower, nice armor, a pretty impressive pistol, and he had a cool rocket pack .

Now, a Pistoleer should just be like what you would think of in real-life. They'll shoot you dead between the eyes from 50m in a Canadian Snowstorm. But is it anythink like this? Hell no! Do BH's or Pistoleers get any of this cool stuff? Hell no!

Just a though on the game...

Jangomay be a bounty hunter, but a typical bounty hunter is not Jango Fett

Yeah i think Jango must have had at least 1000 skillpoints to use.

The Fett's are exceptions to the rule. You can't really compare them to the rest of the bounty hunters because they were supposed to be so far above the average. It would be like comparing Luke to all jedi. Again, another exception to the rule.

Thats true... but hey remember when Princess Leia walked in Jabbas Palace in Return of the Jedi with the Thermal detonator in her hand? (And she was posed as a BH)

Now do BH's get to use Thermal Detonators? Hell no...

I think I read somewhere someone said that was because she's a princess, and you can't tell a princess what she can and cannot do

Seriously though that doesn't mean anything. She held one, but she didn't *throw* it. Maybe when she held it these white letters scrolled across her retinas saying "You are not certified to use this weapon. Damage will be greatly reduced."

Chewbacca drove an AT-ST in ROTJ. As a wookiee and using this precedent I demand an AT-ST because a wookiee drove one in the movies!

Ergo - using the movie to try justify anything in this game is an exercise in silly behaviour

I pretty much agree with what you're getting at.

I've said in several other posts comparing classes that there are some real no-brainer scenarios where the game has it wrong.

Master BH v Master Pistoleer with both using the same weapon/armor/etc = BH Wins. HOW?!

If the game allowed BH to actually take advantage of the skills and style we've seen in the movies then yes.... but that's because bounty hunters are designed to orchestrate and take advantage of unbalanced fights. In a fight with all factors made equal, except pistol skill, the pistoleer should pop a cap in the BH's head and watch him fall dead while blowing smoke from the barrel. /shrug

Another good example is a Master TKA engaging any ranged combat profession at point blank range. If the TKA is close enough to get ahold of you, you should be dead....

Yet another example: A bounty hunter with surprise, using a well chosen weapon: This should be an easy win. Except the game mechanics don't support concepts like stalking and surprise.

/shrug

I have to admit, I'm very enthusiastic about the work of the dev team in balancing these issues. I get tired of reading all the flaming on the boards every day by the small portion of the SWG population who are the loudest. I don't post much because I'm just too busy playing.

If there is one truth to this game that the devs simply don't understand it is this: All players are severely underpowered. Why is it that CH's are so popular? Id it because they are superpowered? No, it's because NPCs and MOBs are so out of whack powerwise that even a TKA needs a pet for a meat sheild. I mean a lot of the high end NPCs will one or two shot kill any player. I don't care how big a group you have, people are going to die alot unless you have a pet that can takethe shots for you.

The needed change is to make all players morepowerful. Thus we get to a major problem with the game comunity, the call for nerfs. The way most people postpretty soon hunting gorges will be big game. No,what we need is to buff upall the professions.

Yes, a BH should be able to kick a master pistoleers rear end, but go ahead and as a master pistoleer take CH, TKA, Smuggler, Medic,or any other skill that we can master but the bh can not and I guarantee youthe playing feild will be more even. Except it doesn't work that way now, does it?

What do we get? Stopping shot? great, that can one hit kill an unprepared player. What do BH's get? eyeshot? at least 5 to 8 shots for a kill. LLC single 2? Maybe that could get a one shot kill, but with a 2.5x melee penalty and the need to be in melee range to use it, well gee that isn't to good is it?

Face it, the BH is the most overrated class there is. They get the medocre but whined about eyeshot, the llc which is melee range only, and carbines that do more damage to them then the enemy. Oh, and don't forget the bugged to hell investigation missions. We get some darned nice moves and the flexibility to take other classes. Master Pistoleer and get the pistol line out smuggler. You'll destroy a bh using just your pistols.

I know thats why I made the switch to pistoleer. There is just no incentive to be a bountyhunter. I mean no player bounties, and even if there were it's not like they'll be able to kill anything before to long.

Now, back to my first paragraph. How should we relate to BH's balance wise? Well, it appears that the origninal intent was for weapon specs to have a mix of offense and defense, while BH's have overwhelming offense at the cost of defense. Well, it doesn't quite work out that way. Either defense is broken or we are not given enough points in it to do PVE content. What needs to change? Well, more defense mods for us, riflemen and carbineers. BH LLCs need to drop the melee penalty and or go to long range. Carbines need fixing, we need the DX2 to be boosted up beyond a nitch pistol. Not as good as the scatter (which takes so many skillpoints to get) but balance wise on par with the T21 rifle (similar DPS and the like). Everyone across the board needs more base stats. If we want to end creature dominance we should all at advanced levels have more HAM then a novice CH pet and still be able to equip armor.

Of course all this would make the game more fun, which the devfs seem bent on eliminating these days...

I think all of us, as Pistoleers, should focus on fixing our own profession as opposed to worrying about Bounty Hunters.

Right now BH is way more powerful than Pistoleer and Carbineer combined. Yes,neither profession iswell thought out at all, and no, they aren't balanced in the way any sane person thinks that they should be. But you can say that about a lot of things in this game ... at this point let's not pick fights with the BHs and try to get our FWG5 un-nerfed and get some actual help for our profession.

i think its funny personally i own master bhs all day long the only people that put up a good fight are bh/ master pistoleers and bh/carbiniers(2 reasons 1. charge shot has no timer on kd 2. that **edit** dizzy kd at 64m lol) a bh cam spam torso or eyeshot on me and hes dead before the first tick of fire(eyeshot with a 80% resist composite helmet is about 38 points in pvp so worthless) noone can take the lowblow paniclastditch combo with a launcher pistol
