Thread: CU potential armor issue?

well.. I was just looking through the cu profession trees again.. and I noticed something..

I know I have no idea how armor will impact us, nor how each type of armor differs from another in encumberance..

but, it seems to me that we do not have any movement mitigation ? this means full encumberance (whatever that restriction actually is) while wearing our armor?

whe have good rate of fire and average accuracy mitigations, but no movement mitigation.. by design or oversight? Maybe I just missed it in the trees.. ?

being the type of ranged fighter we are - evasion will be quite important to us I think (though I do love some of our specials - one of only 2 profs with intimidate) - I think mobility is something that needs to be there as well.

I am aware that the lighter (recon) armor will have less of an encumberance effect than the heavier (battle/assault) armors - but will someone with 60% movement mitigation in battle armor, be able to run the same speed (or faster) than us with 0% mitigation in recon ? Or are the heavier armors socumbersome that they need the mitigation, while recon is light and fluffy and has only a minimal impact on our movement?

The way I see it by way of movement speeds/accuracy/rate of fire etc.. no armor would be best, followed in suit by recon/battle/assault - giving recon the ability to fire faster, be more accurate, able to move faster, and better evade attacks as when compared to someone who is in the heavier armor types.

Is this going to be the case (that even with no movement mitigation, we will be faster than someone in battle armor with 40% or 60% mitigation?) - will we, with 40% accuracy mitigation in light/flexible armor, be more accurate than a carbineer with 40% accuracy mitigation in more cumbersome battle armor (assuming all weapon/accuracy mods are equal) ?

I would wait until they are actually testing it before I would worry too much. I am sure that numbers will be adjusted once elite professions are starting to get tested. At least I hope so....

ah.. well if there are no movement impairments on recon armor, then this whole thing is baseless

hope that's the case - but, I still think that wearing any armor, no matter how light it is, should make you slower than wearing just clothing - tkm and jedi should get some kind of bonus out of the deal.. heh

I know we will find out soon enough, butwhat I'm wonderingis....... If I'm a TKM/Pistoleer, will I be able to wear TK cert armor while weilding a pistol, and still get the mitigation from TK?

Novice Pistoleer gives you Movement Mitigation 10%. The other two by Master Pistoleer give you a mitigation of 40%, so they forgot to add in Movement Mitigation past 10%, or There should be no Movement Migitagion for Recon Armor and that 10% is a mistake.

TK does not get any armor certs, they get avoidance skills, and they only work if you are wearing no armor. So, if you have no armor on, then yes, from what I understand you will get the TK avoidance bonuses.

Not a thing to worry about Gedankenite, there's no armor for TK's.

My bad, Master Pistoleergives you Rate of Fire Mitigation 60%.

Smugglersget Movement Mitigation of 20%, Accuracy Mitigation of 40% and Rate of Fire Mitigation of 60%, so maybeRecon DOES give you Movement penalties. We'll just have to wait and see.

hmm..

interesting.. I see a lot of diversity coming this way

I mean.. if smugglers get a movement mitigation bonus in recon, where straight pistoleers don't .. I think you may see people taking a little bit of smuggler (specifically for the movement bonus), rather than, say bh, commando, or rifleman for the offensive boosts..

I really do like the new complexities of mixing and matching that the CU proposes.. I just don't think I'm going to have time to figure them all out

Recon isn't a level of armor, it's a type with inherently more energy and less kinetic resists. It can be made in 3 strengths: basic, medium and advanced. The higher the resists, the higher the limitations.
