Out of our 4 actual ranged attacks from novice to pistols IV, placed shot is the best attack so far in my testing (I didn't worry about firearm strike, as it's a state change). The disclaimer is that this was tested before the server went down this evening. Also, I was already noticing the new damage calculation (or lack thereof) and I think I /bugged it. LOL.
At pistols IV speed, with ranged support III it seems that...
Basic Ranged fires around 3 seconds.
Aimed fires around 4.75 seconds (I think this is what I timed it at)
Placed fires around 3.75 seconds
Quickdraw fires around 3.75 seconds
Basic is the weakest
Aimed is the strongest
Placed is just behind Aimed in strength
Quickdraw is between Basic and Placed
At pistols IV right now, I have absolutely no use for quickdraw, Placed is a better special. This really bothers me. Quickdraw is our first skill that requires pistol XP to get. You can get aimed, firearm strike, and placed from rifles and carbines. Quickdraw should be the best of the initial skills for pistol, shouldn't it, or at least if it is not as damaging as Placed, it should be significantly faster.
anyways, I was just wondering what everyone else's experiences are like with our specials?

Using a scout blaster, Quickdraw seems to rip through my "action", and setting placed shot as default attack seems the best thing to do.
It's early days yet though.
Did you get a chance to try all the other specials when the bug was in? If you didnt, I wouldn't worry too much about the marksmanones just yet.

No, I didn't get a chance to really test the pistoleer moves much. I used a couple of the /commands but I really just stuck with what I was supposed to have since we were asked to test the newbie experience.
I agree that we'll learn more about all the moves as the elite trees get opened up, but it doesn't hurt to start looking at what we can look at right now.

The best skill for me thus far is Rapid Fire, which isn't in the pistols branch but in the carbines branch, but it works great. Chews up alot of XP, but it does wonders, especialy if you bounce between it and Quickdraw.
I don't see how that 3 second delay is that bad, if your jumping to another skill immediatly. In that 3 second space, i'm doing about 1100 points of damage. Using the DL-44 XT *cough* Metal *cough*, I do 715 points of damage with Rapid Fire, and about 512 points with Quickdraw. Never bothered to check the others, as the higher skills are doing a noticable range of difference in damage the higher you go. My quickbar was bugged, so i didn't get a chance to test the Master Marksman skill.
I'll admit the differences arn't too spread apart before the XT, but wielding a Scout Blaster I found the damage with Rapid Fire beat out Quick Draw, Placed, and Ranged Shot. Again, making a macro to jump from one skill to another (something the Devs mentioned would be key to doing well in the CU [multi-skilling that is]) really made a difference compared to just sitting there, waiting for the warmup/cooldown so i can just loop the same skill.
In my experience, I never found ranged or placed better then quickdraw or rapidfire damage wise. There was a definate action difference, but I'd have most things dead so I could sit around and charge my action with no problems.
