This idea is based on on comprise suggested in the Smuggler's forum that a lot of them are in favor of.
They are upset over the fact that MP's are getting the DL44 at Master. They want the DL44 because well, obviously its a sentimental thing for them with Han Solo.
So someone suggested this compromise. Let you guys keep your DL44-XT... but then give smuggler's the other DL44.
Ok so why can this not be done with the Intimidator and other pistols that are going to other Prof's and not MP?
Let the SL's have their Intimidator, but change its name by ading something like XT to ir or something similar. Then provide another one, craftable... and certed at a lower Pistoleer skill and call it the Intimidator Light or some such name.
After all, what it all comes down to is the looks. Ok I am not going to comepletely wave off the specifications and damage of the weapon, it should still be fairly decent but again not as decent as the DE-10 as that one seems to hold a lot of sentimental value with MP's... but it should not be as good as the Intimidator XT, or the DL44-XT... for example. But it should still be a good weapon cert'd perhaps at around the Teir 2 or 3 branch of Pistoleer.
Ok granted, this opens the weapon up for dabblers, but what can you do about them anyway... they're always going to be there and they still will not get the full benefit of the weapon by taking advantage of the bonuses in the Master box.
I mean seriously, I can understand what SOE is trying to do by giving other professions like SL their own special guns. I can understand a certain professions desire to have something that can make them feel special and unique.
But then at the same time who is to say that there was ever only one version of any certain weapon over designed?
Does the Chevy Corvette always stay the same? Or does it get a design change every 10 years or so? It's the same car. Same name. Same sentimental value. Same feel. Its a still a Corvette damnit and I want one!
But I can't have the fancy new one, though I bet I can find and afford an older late 70's, early 80's model in need of a little work that'll cost me a lot less.
To me, it'll still be a damned hot Corvette! I'll treasure and savor the memory of sitting in its drivers seat, and gripping that wheel and feeling its engine roar, for the rest of my life...
On TC-5 last night, it was released on the Publish notes that they changed the E11 and Bowcaster. Moved their cert's around and then added new "Light" versions of the same weapons, craftable at lower levels.
So why can't they do that with these Pistols; and why can't you guys come to a compromise on who gets what gun cert'd where?

I was thinking something similar, at master... you can wield every pistol, but you aren't as proficient as the pistoleer who has the master box for that cert.
Bit ofa waste of time though really.
I don't see why you lotcan't share eh? Play nice... if you want the cert for a certain pistol, get the master box to go with it.
I really, really, don't see what all the fuss is about.

Han was a master pistoleer as well as a master smuggler.
Well, maybe the thing is, Han wasn't a master smuggler, after all, he was accused of dropping his shipments at the first sign of an Imperial Cruiser. Doesn't sound like a master smuggler to me!

I love the idea of the DL44 compromise... but apparently I'm in the minority on that. My post has been shot down to hell by most of the smugglers. They seem to think that such compromise would make us Han Solo clones. I must say I was very suprised by all that.
We 'multiple version' smugglers are in the WAY minority.

imo, if they can, the only people that can use a DL44 XT /best Dl44, should be a master Pistoler WITH master smuggler, As the proton carb, if its to be put in BH, i should be a MBH+Mcarb cert. No idea why it should be like that tho lol

I think a better way of looking at this would be with real world Pistols, take a look at HK's USP .45 and HK's SOCOM Mark 23 Pistol. Both fire a .45 round, both 'look' the same for the most part. However the Mark 23 is a bigger pistol, has it's LAM Unit (A targetting laser and flashlight unit that fits under the barrel). For the most part there the same gun, and the Navy SEALS who the Mark 23 was made for do tend to pick one or the other. Some like the big size and feel of the Mark 23, other's like the smaller USP in .45 still both are the same pistol.
Same could be said about alot of guns that end up being the same, there are Colt 1911's out there that are in .45, 9mm, 10mm and .40 the Desert Eagle follows the same lines. Point is there can be copys of the pistol that are more or less powerful that could go to other classes.
In this case I'd see SL's useing an Intimidator that's less powerful but shoots faster. SL's are a 'multi' weapon class witha Carbine and Pistol, in the real world a commander would carry something that he could aim and get off some fast shots with. A Pistoleer who's along the lines of an Old West Gunfighter could have a slower but more damage friendly gun. Still I don't know up to the dev's and we did get the Metal DL44.
