As a rifleman/marksman before the combat upgrade I really enjoyed an important part about being a marksman and rifleman, which was setting up the shot. I think that the old system of getting in the perfect range and setting up the perfect posture was very enjoyable and reward to game play. What good is a carbine, pistol or rifle if range means nothing. Rifles do way more damage so why not everyone who likes blaster be a rifleman? You will maximize your damage weather you want to fight at long range, medium, or short range, and if you want to stand it doesn't matter. I really do think that teh range considerations and postures added a lot to the game and that the development team really should think about brining it back.

I'm pretty sure range does still apply, you have - accuracy mods the closer you get...

Posture HAVE an effect. They make you more difficult to hit by ranged weapons, but increase the melee damage you get.
stand: no reduction at all
kneel: Less hit by ranged weapons, more damage by melee
prone: less less (
) hit by ranged, more more damage by melee
I do not have exact number, sorry

The poster might also be talking about actualy setting up a shot or attack. Since you have to be soo close, its just walk up, get attacked, and hope you can out last them. Before, I could work with the range and terrain to set up a nice attack witout it being a toe to toe spam fight.

How do you know range mods still work? I don't find I miss any more or less at 0m than I do at 35m. I don't seem to miss any more or any less running versus standing still.
I know accuracy affects damage done. I don't see an increase in damage from 0m to 35m.
All ranged weapons should go from 0 to 65m. The accuracy mods should be brought back (and shown in the UI like in the old days.) At our max range, we'll be sporting a -50 acc score (or more if it needs balancing), which is going to reduce our chance to hit as well as reduce the amount of damage we're doing when we do hit. The rifles will be doing just fine at long range, but will be dealing with accuracy issues up close.

sorry don't know why i put ranges in there, but postures still work the same
and from my experience accuracy does too... but maybe thats just cause i have always had pistols with uber point blank accuracy ![]()

I couldn't agree more. I was thinking those very thoughts the day I discovered that pistols only fire up to 35m, when I played the CU on test center. All ranged weapons should fire at the same range--meaning no minimum ranges for rifles, and no disparity of maximum ranges for the variousranged weapon classes. Rifle accuracy should be less than a pistol's at point-blank range, and a pistol should have lower accuracy than a rifle at long range. It makes intuitive real-life sense too... it's not realistic to think that the moment a mob steps beyond this imaginary 35m mark, a pistol can no longer reach it, whereas a pistol is consistently deadly if the mob is 1m closer. That actually makes a lot less sense to me than a rifle being able to fire accurately at point-blank range. M-16's work just fine at point-blank range...
