In my opinion, there currently is nothing that makes pistoleer better than any of the other ranged professions.... Rifles get long range, high damage, carbines medium range, medium damage.... so who would want pistols with a low range, low damage??? Yes, we have *slightly* higher defense... but it seems all the other professions make up for that defense anyway..... we also seem to have a lower speed and accuracy than the others, which doesnt make much sense to me....... anyway I think our focus to balance our profession is a huge addition of defense..... I think Master Pistoleer (to prevent dabbling for the defense) should have a COB equivalent (+500 Defense, 30 seconds)... Its clear our offense isn't going to be changed (devs stated that duel wielding is too much work), we really need something like this..... this will give people a reason to actually master pistoleer and not just steal some of our specials..... we are stuck fighting in close range and have nothing to make up for it.... anyone else have thoughts on a pistoleer COB?

Agree.
Pre Cu - Pistoleer profession used for stacking 4-0-4-0.
Post Cu - Pistoleer profession used for dabbling 0-4-0-4.
The ONLY benny to mastering pistoleer is to get the 20 second root. Now if the dev's would put in min ranges to go with the max ranges then it might even the playing field a bit more.

There is at least two things that make Pistoleer better than other ranged classes-- low SAC, and Stopping Shot. But other than that, yeah,I agree with you. The reasons that you stated basically forced me out of my long-beloved pistoleer profession a couple of weeks ago, and if the devs ever address those concerns, then I will be the first one to come back.

Unfortunately for us, we are the only range profession that still adheres to the original concept model for Pistol, Carbine and Rifle ranges. Min range was removed for carbines, but they still had a max range, and rifles were let off completely.
This is due to min range caps being a bit nasty for players in practice, which I can understand, but that meansnow we are caught in a limbo, waiting for some balance to the situation we find ourselves in at the moment.
I'm hoping that the next few publishes will even things up a bit.
