I am currently a Master Rifleman/Doc 2034/Pistols xxx2. I picked up that tree in pistols to use the stopping shot as a Rifleman, because when I am hunting with a group, the mob immediately agros me as soon as I hit for anything. I figured stopping shot would give me a few more ticks before the mob reaches me. My question is, as you advance up that tree in pistols, does the root get longer? Just curious! The character builder I have has almost every profession but pistoleer updated to post-CU...

At pistols x/x/x/3 you get Improved Stopping Shot that lasts for 15 seconds instead of 10.

I use this exact same method on my toon. I'm MRM, MSL, 0-0-0-4 Pistoleer and this works really well solo, but even better when grouped with a Pistoleer Correspondent 
Solo I can go prone, cover, conceal x3, stopping shot, head shot x ??, kill

I like that formula you mentioned as well, even though my stopping shot right now is only the regular stopping shot. But it seems to work well, at least on Pikets and Stormtroopers.
