Ok so im a pistoleer/chef on Flurry and the first thing I did when I logged on after the patch was take down a grand wrix... simple right? Pull out the trustee pistol and start whipping till I noticed my stamina was almost down to ZERO and the thing was at about 50% health! Oh the HAM cost for pistol whip went through the roof? oops should have read that.

At this point Im thinking about how I was going to get mauled pretty bad cause my battle fatigue was say 349? something like that.

Im not into appearing in cloning centers with half my HAM blacked out and luckily I had something on me which swung the battle over in my favor. Tatooine Sunburn (i make em so i got lots on me) +1550 to Strength and +1550 to Stamina witha minor -95 to focus.

Basically after I drank one of those I saw my green line start to climb steadiily while i continued to pistol whip my wrixer.

So the era of buffs are here ... that patch hurt the whippers but smart players will find workarounds. One is changing your style of fighting and well then there is always Tatooine Sunburn . Contact your local chef for some so you can keep on whipping.

For those on Flurry I keep my vendor stocked up good and he can be foung north of Coronet at -666 -3400.

Food and drink have no downers.

And spice stacks with food and drink, so you can get three types of buffs at once.

Bring on the buffs!

Don't forget the Doctor buffs! A good Master Doctor can buff Health/Action and both of their secondary stats by 1500-2000 each! Add on that Tatooine Sunburn and you can Whip for days.

The system as it stands now is workable. Things are not so easy, and that is probably a good thing, but I have found some work-arounds to help compensate.

I now have a scout blaster for my whipping weapon and a FWG as my primary. I start with the FWG and if a MOB closes to melee range I can switch the the scout blaster and pistol whip. I have also installed a power-up that reduces action cost by over 30% on the SB.

So if you want to use pistol whip -----

  1. Get a low HAM pistol

  2. Use power-ups to lower action cost

  3. Use buffs to increase stats

  4. Heal as you go

It will not be as effective as pre-patch and do not expect it to be but the 4 steps above make it very workable for me.

TKAs got nerfed. We (pistoleers) just got inconvenienced.

P.S. I build lots of power-ups. Maybe this will increase demand fot them although I have not had any problems selling those I do not use myself.

I have a CDEF with 6/13/6 HAM, and I was able to spam pistol whip like hell last night. Of course, I wasn't doing any damage, but still useful for taking out big mobs in groups. I also found it still *real* useful in pvp, pistolwhip -> wound1&2 -> pistolwhip -> spam bodyshots. If I got low on health I would pistolwhip to gain me time then heal up with my handy stim B's.

Food/Drink & Spice buffs don't last very long. Doctor buffs last 90 minutes (and now they don't fizzle away when you travel!!!)

Quickness is key here. Get a doctor to buff that up. If you can find a master doctor with a Enhance D pack they can increase your quickness by 1000 (give or take 500 points depending upon resource quality on your server). I buffed only my quickness yesterday and when I was out fighting in the field and pistol whipping mobs, my health bar didn't decrease one bit.

so, all anyone has to do for pvp is have a master doc bot buff them up. then we are back to knockdown spam griefage again?

i guess they shouldve nerfed it the correct way, by adding a KD timer, not increasing the HAM cost.

Ok on pistol whip. With my scatter or fwg I can whip about 2-3 times and then I am out of action.

But I got a cdef pistol with max experimentaion on specials and I can now get about 6 out. It is a pain to switch weapons tho.

So the new soon to be uber style?

Suppression shot atleast for melee mobs. Low ham cost and the moster never even gets close to you.

I buffed myself quite heavily, and Pistol Whip still ate at my mind pool like nothing else.
