Was looking at a DX2 today and was shocked to see that it had +22 to point blank but -27 at ideal range, is this a bug or is the DX2 supposed to be a point blank weapon?

Many powerful weapons don't even give bonuses to hit,so the DX2 isn't that bad.Besides, if I were to use a pistol in real life, I would definitely be more accurate point blank than from any distance. I think the label of ideal range is misleading, though. It should be: point-blank, mid, and extreme. Also, the fact that the DX2 has light armor piercing and does acid damage makes up for its range penalties.

I believe the three modifiers are short range, medium range, long range. From the shown bonuses you can determine the ideal range, but the middle number is not it. So the ideal range (a stat I wish they had continued to display) for a DX2 is probably about 10 meters, or maybe even 0.

Unless the wording was changed for guns crafted post-patch, the ranges are called "point-blank", "ideal", and (I think) "extreme". If you were going by the literal meaning of the word "ideal", the ideal range for a DX2 would be 0 meters. After that, it would get steadily worse.

Ideal range is actually a pivot point. So if a pistol has +10/+30/-15 at ideal 15, the graph would look like this:
0 10 20 30 40 50 60

+30 /\
/ \
/ \
+20 / \

/ \
+10/ \
\
\
\
0 \
\
\
-10 \

\
-15 \
