Thread: Move Testing

EDIT - Rewrote the table:

These moves are being retested as my girlfriend's Pistoleer gains them, she's working on Marksmanship now so it will be awhile till the next update I think. DMGx, DLYx and HAMx are all pretty straightfoward. Dx/H is a ratio of the DMGx to the HAMx. The higher the number, the more damage you do for the same amount of HAM drain. The highest would be your "I'm running low on HAM move." I'd like to add a column for the ratio of DMGx to DLY, but it's not accurate unless you account for your Pistol's speed and Pistol Speed modifier, so you'll have to make a spreadsheet for that, or continue using the DMG Calculator. (As a side note, I think all of my data agrees with the DMG Calculator, I just added BodyShot1 and the HealthShots. I already e-mailed Rem to see if he'll add those three shots to the list.)

SpecialMoveDMGx DLYx HAMxDx/H

NormalShot1.0 1.0 ----

BodyShot11.5 1.2 1.0 1.50

BodyShot2 2.0 1.8 1.2 1.67

DoubleTap2.8 2.1 1.0 2.80

FanShot 4.0 2.4 1.2 3.33

HealthShot1 2.0 1.0 1.0 2.00

HealthShot23.01.9 1.2 2.50

KipUpShot 2.5 1.5 1.0 2.50

StoppingShot 5.04.0 1.3 3.85

Note that for this Pistoleer (0041), she only has Pistol Speed 36, and the speed of her weapon is 2.0. Her NormalShot/HealthShotis at 1.3s so she hasn't hitthe speed cap yet. Until she does hit that cap, HealthShot1 will remain her best damage output shot (on a single target), with FanShot right behind it. As FanShot is draining her HAM much less (firing once every three times HealthShot1 fires) she'll be using that now, most of the time. I'm planning to test all the other moves (the point blanks and melee defenses) eventually, but I just haven't felt like it yet. Plus she's doing a LOT of multi-target kiting now to capitalize on the power of FanShot.

Edit 04/13/2004 - Did some more parsing with FanShot (she just got it) and updated amost of themove DLY/DMG mods. I scored an 87 point hit on a normal shot now, and the affected the multipliers, and I used a 4.0 speed CDEF for the delay mods and got much more precise numbers. Edited shots are in red. Since I'm using a different pistol for the delay now I'm removing the data columns. If anyone wants them ask in a private message.

i think your numbers are skewed.

the only true reliable way to test specials is if both parties are unbuffed and without armor. otherwise there will be too much to factor in to the system to get reliable numbers. and don't forget the PVP reduction, too.

how extensive was your test? most of our tests are 100 shots per special, with maybe 2-3 tests to make sure it is right.

Those numbers seem about right but stopping shot stays at about 350 for me with a 400 damage scatter even though riflemen can pump out 700 ss2 with a stock damage sliced t21 and they can do it faster than we can shoot.

woot woot

Buffing the TKA so he can take a few shots does not skew the numbers--unless someone is going to say that raising my Strength causes the combat window damage to change. And wearing armor makes no difference, either as long as every piece has the same resist--and in this case, the armor was vulnerable to heat, so I *wasn't* wearing armor. There was in fact a PvP reduction to damage, but unless the suggestion on table is that one shot is more reduced than another shot, that doesn't matter, either. In fact, most of the shots checked out with established data--although HealthShot 1 & 2 had no data to begin with. Spam HealthShot1 a bit yourself, especially at low level skill--it's the same speed as a normal shot, but double damage.

Correct?

As a side note, stopping shot I had to let shoot a LONG time before getting the high hit. Her gun has a very wide damage range, so it was all over.

Yeah sorry about my rant about riflemen. Although I would use the universal pistoleer gun the Dx2 instead of the fwg5 and post those numbers the smaller damage range will give you more consistant numbers

checking it over with jaegen's post from a few months back, it seems your information is about right. some of it differs by.3 or so, but not terribly off. his post does not include HAM costs, though. and we don't know how out of date it is.

i was just thinking that all the buffs and armor would make it harder to produce accurate numbers. yes,all the specials would be affected universally, and all you have to do is compare their damage rates, but with all the regenerating and reductions goingon, itgenerally makes the test harder than itshould be.

*skew* was not quite the right word to use.

edit:

we need to get BS3 tested. i am hitting for a max of 600 while HealthShot2 gives a max of around 900. BS3 supposedly has a damage multiplier of .5 more than HealthShot2, but my personal results aren't adding up as such.

Every time she gets a new move, I'll test it. You be surprised how accurate it was to test the damage this way, blast a guy for 3 or 4 minutes and you'll find the high number you get is very consistent. That's just it though, you have to blast them over and over till you're sure that's as high a number as you're going to get. All the regen buffs did was keep her from killing me. If the old data is still accurate, then you need Master Pistoleer (74 speed) and a 1.6 speed pistol in order for BS3 to surpass BS2.
