Thread: What I think KipUpShot should be. POLL

So it does make you stand and fire when you are in a prone position. That you put yourself in. Wheee useless pretty much. Anyone even use it ever? How often does a pistoleer go prone? Exactly.


So KipUpShot should make us stand and fire from a KD. Basically just as it does now if you are prone, but work also if you have been KD. And it does not do this, myself and another pistoleer tried it last night against a normal KD and then one with dizzy. Nada.


Now it would be great if maybe it gave us a little extra boost to be able to stand up against a KD/dizzy, more then just /stand would. Or at least, make you actually standup, shoot then fall down again. Instead of just getting the message, "You are to dizzy to stand right now."


So what is your opinion on this? Would you like to see KipUpShot perform /stand and shoot even from KD? Poll your vote here.

Well sometimes if Im running in to attack in PvP, I'll go to kneeling at 60m hit them with bleed and start blasting. Gives me more accuracy and a bit more defence as they run at me and shoot me. When they hit 20m I stand up and from there its just running around. So yes, it would be great to have a defence to KD. Makes sence, you are closer to the ground, so it's harder to KD them down. I like that.


As for the tumble moves, they are actually in Marksman, from the Ranged support line. I used to have them but never used them when I did. Also pointless, but not pistoleer. Kipup is from pistoleer.

That sounds like a great idea, and it would fit with the whole gunfighter theme as well. Plus, it would give us a little bit more effectiveness whendefending againstmelee classes (as often happens, since our weapons tend to be close-range.)



All in all, I'd say it'd be a great improvement for a little-used special attack.

you can use kip up shot while standing.... and leave yourself standing /shrug



nice idea though, would help us with our pathetic joke of 50% kd defense..... but shouldn't this be posted in the marksman forum? it's not a pistoleer special

Wow I guess no one thinks this would be useful. At least its more useful then how KipUpShot works now. What I have been doing it going through all my combat commands, and looking at what ones, especially from pistoleer, that I never use. Then ask why? Then ask what would make me use it.

I think it's a good idea. Same with Tumble to Standing.



But additionally, I'd like to see the various postures have a greater effect on combat than they now have. They're useful in PvE sometimes, but in PvP you won't ever see a Rifleman lying prone in cover, or a Pistoleer kneeling to hit targets further away. An idea would be to grant additional defenses or immunity to KD or Dizzy while kneeling/prone, as well as improving the ranged defense bonus. Currently, posture change attacks are just a substitute for a KD, and posture changes themselves aren't used at all (except for /stand after KD)

exactly.



we have to fight melees and arent nearly as powerful - plus we have no mitigation.



we should be immune to KD/dizzy with a dive up shot.

Both KipUp and the Tumble moves are Marksman specials just in different trees.


Actually I wouldn't say we should be immune to dizzy or KD when using KipUp or Roll Shot, we should just get a higher chance to resist it. Dive Shot is a different issue.


As for being immune, how would you be able to knockdown someone who's already lying on the ground?

To the best of my experience kipupshot does bypass dizzy state. Do not tell me we got stealth nerfed.

It doesn't bring you up from KD.

I will have to try getting dizzied and going prone or kneeling and see what happens each time.

This is the best state defense in game, what do you mean pathetic? Pistoleers have one of the ebst defenses in game. Also, melee opponents are not a problem for range fighters if you know what you are doing (they also do not have mitigation against us). To effectively fight a melee attacker, KITE.


The original poster has aninteresting idea, even though it belongs on the marksman posts, it is just as relevant here since we all use the pistol tree. Not sure I support it, I would rather see KD/posture change/dizzy combos leave the game or have the timer adjusted much like suppression fire. Perhaps a 5 secodn max duration for dizzy, and a 10 second reapply pause. Also would like to see tumble be the equivalent to CoB (meaning we get duration bonuses and same modifier to our defences, as well as letting us use specials).
