Thread: Novice Pistoleer After CU I am weak How to grind? Can a group help?

Hello,

I have come back to my SWG account after two months, in which I had to leave the game for many reasons. Anyhow, I am back and I am happy to see the CU is finally live. Before CU I was a Master Scout, Novie Pistoleer (1001), with Marksman 0444, and many more points scattered here and there. I tried to respect my skills, moved everything away from Scout with the exception of the Terrain Negotiation line, but I am now just LVL 19. This means that the Scout blaster is the only of my old weapons I am able to use; this means that enemies I could try to kill before when buffed (and some even when I was not buffed, like winx), are now instant death. Also, I cannot work my way back up to a decent fighting level fighting in the safe surroundings of big cities, as weaker opponents give 1xp point. I tried hard to use strategically my few abilities, with no luck. Some fights have been more engaging, but I die way too often also against weaker enemies.

My question is - how canI build up my character a bit more rapidly - as I am now, I am not having fun, as things I used to do before CU are impossible for me right now? I have never grinded before, so any suggestion may be helpful. If I hang around with some high level friend (my buddy is at lvl 50) and we group together, how are points divided when fighting stronger enemies?

Thanks!

CU made it so we grind in groups now, which is actually enjoyable and probably faster So find yourself a grinding group, and go on some mission trips with them, just make sure you always hit the mob that the group is hitting and you'll be fine

Missions are the best way to grind right now. Grouping is more effective at it than solo. Good luck grinding.

Missions about your level. Generally the missions selectable from the term will be about your Level. "All the Rage" seems to be about Gurks on Lok since they do not Death Blow. If you grind with your friends as long as you get one hit in you will receive full experience. Also by being grouped you receive the protection of being higher level so you take less damage from enemies you normally would not be able to fight.

If you're going to solo, my recommendation is to get some medic or doc. I'm a MD/MM/MP and it works out pretty well. Honestly, from the pre-CU to the CU didn't change my playstyle a whole lot, although in general i think I have to heal even more now.

Goodbye my love, goodbye. Losing ground is what it takes if you really want to fly.

doesn't matter. the mission term will give you missions +/-2 from your current combat rating. I was a MP with master music and entertainer when the respec started. those were not available for respec right away, so I started CL 54 and had to grind missions. I worked solely out of my town on Naboo. I tried to stick with bols and gualamas as they seem to run the slowest. Granted, I did the grind in double XP work, but it still went really fast solo, and even faster in a group. Until you get comfy with the new system, stick with CL missions below yours. After you get the hang of it, try to tackle missions your level or higher. In a group, you should easily be able to do missions 2 levels above the group level (just remember to get one creature at a time.)

If you can find a mission creature that is not social, that would be your best bet for grinding.

To get missions on the non adventure planets like Tatooine, Corellia and Naboo you need to use a mission terminal in a player town as mission terminals in the NPC cities cap at CL15 missions.
