Thread: Burst Shot. How Is This Ability Working For You?

I've read that Burst Shot is an AoE attack (so I guess that means it hits multiple targets). I've also read (on the in-game tab) that it has a chance to stun its targets.

So, is it an AoE stun? Just an AoE attack for blasting multiple foes? Or is it just a stun attack for slashing away your opponent's regen?

Has a chance to stun your target and anybody standing nearby, whence they all aggro and kill you

yea, more than one creature on you with same skill level is gonna suck. I tried to do quencker missions and I found it very difficult to only pull 1 at a time. *SIGH*

Burst Shot is a Cone AoE like Fan Shot that has a chance to Stun your opponent.

Stun is supposed to prevent action regen, but I dont see that it does that, even when I am stunned by something my action regen seems unaffected so I don't really use it. Also it is resisted about half the time it seems.

If your working with a group, try standing off to the side of the group facing them. If the group gets mobbed you can hit them with burst shot and fan shot without running the risk of having the entire lair come after you.

This also works if you hang back from the main group staying out of range of the lair, butI'm a rifleman too so I prefer to be off to the side, preferably on a grassy knoll somewhere

I also think that burst shot is borked atm because it aggro's stuff that is much farther than the range or your weapon.

I can sit at max range of my weapon of 30m and take on a mob, but if I use burst, some mobs about 64m away from me get hit.

yes it is bugger/doesnt do what it says. It is a AOE stun which aggroes things WAY beyond your range.

It is very dangerous to use in a group against multiple mobs. I dont even have it on my toolbar.

I've never seen it stun anything, but I also haven't used it a lot, since Stun seems to be fairly useless when it sticks on something anyway. The AoE part (when it works) also seems less useful than (Improved) Fan Shot, since it seemed to do less damage than Fan Shot.

I rarely use AoE attacks, since they're just way too dangerous most of the time. Either they aggro things that aren't in the fight, they pull the existing fighting creatures off any tank characters in your group, or it just doesn't hit things you'd think it would.

Fan Shot is still on my toolbar for now, but Burst Shot didn't last long on there.

It does stun, but I think it is the effect of stun that is in doubt. I like to use it on a load of mobs before I fan shot them... used it liberally on escaped wookie slaves last night.

I read somewhere recently that Fan Shot is now only AOE against mobs that are currently agroed against you and/or your party, and doesn't agro other mobs into the fight. If this is so, could we get Burst Shot to do the same? I'm sure Carbineers would like to be able to use Suppression Fire against single targets without agroing everything else in their LOS as well. Please, make AOE attacks work against already-agroed mobs only!

I've tested it out some more, and I've finally landed a couple of stuns on some creatures. Unfortunately, it does tend to aggro other creatures that are way out of range.

That being said, stun is a useful effect--when a MOB is stunned, their health regen is non-existent.

If only Burst Shot's radius was toned down to a managable level (like 18m), it'd be a helluva useful shot.

I had fun using this while grinding xp on Dant when the huge herds of Pickets were there. Run into the middle, burst shot, and have about 100 pickets running after you. Fun Fun!
