I am a Master Pistoleer / Master Ranger. Before the CU, I routinely wore a full set of Composite Armor. I have not yet refit this armor. Provided that I can still do so, does anybody have a suggestion as to what would be the best armor to replace it with (whether by refitting it or just puchasing new armor?)
Any suggestion as to what is the best weapon for a Master Pistoleer with no other combat skills?
Can anybody point me to a good guide that explains all the fine points of the CU including the role that a Master Pistoleer now plays in the game?

Whoa...you've got bigger balls than me!
I WANTED to do that combo, but one broken profession is more than enough for me, so I'm a Master PIstoleer/MBH instead..and I use MBH specials with pistols..it's so sad.
Anyway, props to you for sticking with it, but oh my godI bet it sucks trying to accomplish anything.

Armor Types
Under the new system, armor will be divided into four categories: None, Reconnaissance, Battle, and Assault . Each category has its unique damage protection.
None - Provides no additional damage mitigation
Reconnaissance Armor receives a nominal bonus to energy protection and a nominal penalty to kinetic damage protection. This can be conceptualized as a free energy layer.
Battle Armor has an even protection against all damage types - no modifiers at all.
Assault Armor receives a nominal bonus to kinetic protection and a nominal penalty to energy damage protection. This can be conceptualized as a free kinetic layer.
As a MP you can wear recon armor but as a ranger you can wear battle armor.
If you got recon it would be 6500 vs energy, 4500 vs kinetic and base of 5500.
Battle armor would be 5500 vs kinetic, 5500 vs energy and 5500 base.
Note assult armor would be 6500 kinetic, 4500 energy and 5500 base.
