Why do pistoleers hate when non-pistolweilders use stopping shot and why don't carbineers care about non-carbineweilders using charge shot?


The answer, the weapon class pistol sucks. Will tying specials to pistols make themdesireable or will they make them a novelty to be switched out of once you have rooted something?


Personally, as a Master Rifleman/Pistoleer, I believe the latter. I will just use that crappy 60m pistol to root and then switch to rifles to Damage deal. Pistols will not become a great weapon class because you can do some specials with it that you can't with Rifles or Carbines.



What would make Pistols aviable Weapon class,


-well dual weild might

-getting rid of the range restriction will help

-Maybe getting Rid of SAC Pups, that way Riflemen/carbineers can't ignore their SAC issues

-Some pistols I've noticed have high SAC costs, maybe capping the Highest SAC cost for a pistol at a number lower then Rifles lowest capped cost....

I personally dont hate dabblers at all, quite the opposite. It's nice that so many players take up part of the profession.

Pistols don't "suck", if you get the right pistol made you can output a lot of damage very quickly, and keep it up for a minute and a half, firing bodyshot/quickdraw every three seconds.

I think those who are upset see this is a continuance of pre-CU "just get enough of pistoleer to do what I need to do and forget about the rest." Most people saw a master BH get enough pistoleer to be speed capped. They would take that as further sign that our profession was pretty much broken or useless.


Now, they see people doing the same thing in terms of just getting enough pistoleer to do what they want, and they think that makes the profession useless.


Personally, I disagree. Dabbling is encouraged in the CU. I have TKA 0100 right now for Improved CoB. That's the equivalent of doing 0001 Pistols for Stopping Shot. I don't feel dirty about doing it. I don't feel like I'm insulting Master TKA's by doing it. If a MR/MBH wants to take pistol skills, well, that's cool with me. It's probably a good idea for them to. They can get some more accuracy and defense, another cone shot (2 if you count burst shot), and a nice root. Why should I begrudge them that just because they prefer a rifle over a pistol?

I agree with you here, it is unfair that pistols have such a small range & lowest damage yeild of the 3 weapon classes. Now some may say, well speed and SAC make up for that, well I say they are wrong. Range limitation is an unessary penelty to pistols. Rifle-using Riflemen will always have a sniper role as long as cover still works in PVP. Carbs will always be king with their current set up. Pistols are the only loserers currently and giving range to pistols may help (I still believe pistols need something more, since the role or a weapon should be to deal damage and not define a profession, but that is just me).


I think range limitations should be done away with, when I first heard about the range limitations in April I knew this exact problem was coming. I also knew that since the role of weapons is to deal damage,people will gravitate to the best damage dealer. (Some say it's rifles others say it's carbs, I say it is rifles)


We need solutions to these predictable problems.


For Range we have:


A) Get rid of range limitations, I believe it is a fair proposal.


B) We have get min range limitations, I believe that will just lead us down a further mess. Now I wont suffer, I'm a Master Rifleman/Pistoleer but Rifleman- Rangers, SL's, CH's, and Crafters will.



For the damage issue, I aint got a good idea. Just a bad idea that I keep reposting because it is all I can think of.




The developers did a great job balancing professions, where they dropped the ball was balancing Weapons



-Also people keep saying damage aint an issue, well it will be eventually(I don't care about your Bone Shard/Tissue Pistol). I can almost garuntee it(Can't garuntee 100%because everybody may drop normal professions for Jedi professions and thenthe point of making us desierable to play is out the window.)
