Thread: I was going to ask a dumb question. Instead, I'll give you a little info.
I was going to ask what line of Pistoleer to take as I have enough SP for one line (MBH/MS). But after reading the stickies (novel idea, eh?) I settled on 0004. Smuggler lacks defenses and being able to cycle Stopping shot and Concussion shot should really ^^^^ Jedi off. Anyway, hadn't seen any mention of the MRB in here, so I thought I'd pass that on.
DX2's, Republics, DE-10's and anything else that isn't a DL44XT or a FW FWG5 are all only good for their novelty value. ![]()

I have a 963 Damage,84 SAC,2 speed DE-10. I can get a sceen shot if you would like, Certanly more then novelty value
If a pistol doesn't have 65 SAC, then it's no good to me.

I spend most of my time in game these days hunting Gorax and Krayts for shards and tissues . I'm after a SAC and Damage Capped FWG5 and DL44XT so would need over 180+ max damage tissues it seems.
My current 65 SAC (puped to 46 SAC) FW FWG5 and DL44XT are about 880 Max damage and that was with 150 ishtissues and shards.
I've been doing the rounds of all the weaponsmiths on the server as well to see who can best meet my requirements.
It's kept me quite busy, but the ability to fire Quickdraw and Body shot every 3 seconds for a minute and a half is very nice.
Hitting the SAC cap is simply a matter of putting all your exp. points into effficiency (lowers SAC) on both the barrel and ABPH, then maxing the efficiency line in the final build. To do that and max damage, you pretty much have to hit the damage cap on the build. I really don't think that can be done. If you have an 880+ damage FW with a 65 SAC, you'd still have to go up another 89 points to hit the damage cap. If you used a 150+ shard, that means you'd actually need a 239 shard. I don't think they drop that high. Even if I misread and you mean the DL44 XT, you still have another 68+ points to hit the cap. Again, I haven't seen any 200+ Krayt or Gorax loot drop.
All I was trying to point out with this is that if all else holds true, an MRB should have the highest damage cap of all pistols. I am basing this on a couple of assumptions. First, all of the CL 54 pistols that we know the damage cap on are the same except for the FW FWG5. We don't know the cap on the RB, but I think I can safely assume that it will be 948 like the others. Second, since my MRB hit 38 points above my RB, my guess is that the MRB cap will hit around 38 points higher than the RB. That would put it at 986, almost 20 points higher than the FW FWG5. I'll admit, it's based on assumptions. But if it holds true, the only reason I can see that you'd consider it a "novelty" is that it would take 3 krayt tissues to build rather than the 1 tissue for the DL44 XT.

Given the hell you have to go through to make one, the DE 10 should be at least as powerful. And the DL44 XT, FWG5 and FW FWG5 should be less powerful than the RB and all the other pistols that take 2 ABPh's. But I suppose that is a separate argument. Anyway, it's an interesting take you have there. Makes me want to investigate it farther.
prob is that no proffession should have to depend on loot drops to make it really work. Rifleman was like that pre cu, w/o speed attachments, Head shot 2 was its highest dps attack. Commando required an imperial form fitted stock, high speed tissues, and a speed slice to make a decent weapon. Why the pikeman corr ask for and got the ns energy lance to be there CL54 weapon is beyound me. how many pikeman can afford it?
Point is you have to measure a proffession by standard equipment, and adjust loot accordingly, otherwise it creates a proffession that's only for the rich.
