Glock 22 .40SW
Most of the time I carry my Sig-Sauer P228 (9mm)
I also have a Beretta 92F (Stainless) that I love, and a Smith & Wesson SW99 (40), and a good old 357 Magnum Revolver.
I'd have to say the Beretta and Sig are my favorites though.
Lately I've been feeling downright scared of my own gun. I've got a Glock 21 .45 as my primary, and everyone who finds this out has a horror story to tell me about how they know a friend of a friend of a guy who blew his leg of holstering his gun. Those of you who know RL pistols know that all Glocks have no external solid safety. This means that no matter what, if the trigger is pulled the gun will fire. Period. Great as a ready to go service gun, no buttons to fumble for, no levers to flip. Just dont have it assembled if its out of your sight and there are children within 500 million miles.

Oh, and my backup is a Czec 50 32 ACP. Small, mean, and no snags when drawing from under clothing.
Couple of things you can do, like another poster said you can leave the chamber empty and have no worries (just have to chamber a round before you can shoot) or you can invest in a different gun. There really isn't another option I'm aware of.
The Sigs are actually the same way (at least most of them, I don't know if all models are or not). My 228 has no external safety, and is Singls/Double action, so if I squeeze the trigger it will fire. Doesn't bother me at all though, because I don't have my finger on the trigger if I am holstering my weapon.
What it all comes down to is just being responsible and following best safety practices.
Hehe, honestly, I know how to handle my weapon. If someone is dumb enough to have their finger on or about the trigger when they arent ready to shoot is just asking for it. I really wouldnt give up my Glock for anything, and a 10 cent investment in a Glock Block, which is a small, rapidly discharable piece of plastic that plugs in behind the trigger to prevent 'accidental firing' secures that confidence. I am just amazed that there are people, even trained instructors, who ignore things that they should have learned the moment they took interest in guns. Darwin award contenders to be sure.
I remember the first time i qualified for concealed carry. The instructor hammered us over and over about the two biggest rules.
1. Dont point the gun unless you are intending to fire.
2. KYFFOTT (Keep Your F***ing Finger Off The Trigger) until you decide to pull it.
