Thread: Pistoleer template questions

I have a slight problem. Once again I have reached what I thought was going to be my final template (smuggler/pistoleer), but was not impressed and am thinking of changing it. I have arrived at the conclusion that I want a 87% combat character and 13% artisian character. The only reason I want artisian is to make the money I need to keep my combat focus moving forward. I want a character that is good all the way around and here is what I have come up with:

Option 1:

  • Brawler (fencer, pikeman or swordsman line) - 29

  • Master Fencer, Pikeman or Swordsman - 63

  • Marksman (pistoleer) - 29

  • Master Pistoleer - 63

  • Artisian(0-0-3-4) - 38

  • Medic (1-1-3-0) - 28

Option 2:

  • Brawler (4-0-0-0) - 29

  • Master Marksman - 77

  • Master Commando - 63

  • Artisian (0-0-3-4) - 38

  • Pistoleer (0-2-4-4) - 43

I have played a TKM and know how uber the melee professions are. I want to be able to do variable types of damage and do well in both ranged and melee. I really want to stay away from TKA, as I feel it will get nerfed pretty soon. Which of the above options is can put out the most damage and which has the most surviablity. I like the concept behind the pistoleer, I just want to pick something that complements it well. I can drop the merchant line of artisian to gain another 9 points should that be needed.

Thanks

I only read the first paragraph and wanted to comment on it.

1- Pistoleer/Smuggler is a gret combo for combat. Pistoleer for Speed, Smuggler for the damage and tactics. In pvp I can fire last ditch shots with my new sonic blaster toy for over 600 damage per second. In PVE I can do 2-4k damage last ditch on most any mob a second. What are your reasons for not being impressed? Its one thing to want to try somethign new - another to not explore your current powers.

2- My sole source of income is my smuggling abilities. Some people make money off slicing - i think its a pain in the ass. I make some money selling spice, and a LOT of money selling faction. I can go form 7k to 7 million in one day by dedicating it to selling faction. Artisan wont make you that, no matter how many speeder bikes you sell.

Here is whatI recommend Xadius is totally right pistoleer/smuggler is an awesome combo. I just got it and am totally impressed with it. lastditch>fan shot. I recommend a melee class as well like you said. Right now i am master pistoleer/master fencer/rogue and im lovin it . If you had lots of combat classes you could make money just running missions and you would perform better in pvp. Anyway bell just rang im out

i have tried way too many pistoleer combo's:

For PvE: BH Pistol 4 + master Pistoleer. Fan shot with scatter is incredible.

FOr PvP: Master Pistoleer/Smuggler/TKA or Fencer. No Question. Stack you range and melee defense since it wont be capped this publish. By publish 8 though, I bet BH/Pistol is best for PvP too.

Dont waste time with master brawler due to warcry nerfs.
