Thread: Why is Fan Shot no better than Stopping Shot?

Last night I finallygot Pistol Tech IV - Fan Shot.

I was all pumped to test it out then I noticed when I dida line up of the different specials that Fan Shot was equally as strong as Stopping shot. The max I achieved was -1800 off of the enemy, I was doing that before with Stopping Shot. So what gives? Am I missing something, does Fan Shot fire faster or something? I noticed no difference at all, I am very disapointed now.

Fan shot is for multiple targets. Find a group of targets close together and lay prone and start firing. You'll see the damage hits them all at the same time.

Fan and Stopping do similar damage.

Stopping Shot affects a single target.

Fanshot affects a cone, or an area of effect.

Fan shot is my main shot as a Pistoleer. At the Master level, the speed really makes this shot impressive.

I do a lot of missions against NPCs. If you creep in prone-like, just until you get in range of all the targets and start blasting fanshot, you can often take down 4-5 NPCs before they even know what is going on.

I don't do macros, because a lot can happen quickly. I hotkey my main three weapons, my most commonlyused specials, and my armor and food in casethings getnasty. You get a lot of flexability with that setup. Sometimes you need to heal. Sometimes they're almost out of health, so you need to toss a bodyshot on them. Sometimes you need to pistol whip an arrogant mob that was foolish enough to close in to melee range.

I usually open with a series of fans and watch the damage to the mobs. Depending on how you hit, you may need to throw a stopping/body shot on a higher HAM mob, or a mob that is closing in melee range.

If you are going after a single mob, you could try a macro stacking healthshot and fans, but with random HAM attacks, a lot of different scenarios could play out.

Same for me, no macros because they trip you up at the worst time ...

F5=Healthshot1, F6=Healthshot2, F7=Stoppingshot, F8=Fanshot ...

Against NPC's on faction missions, I tank the pets against the toughest NPC to draw the group's fire, hit F5-F6-F7 and them spam F8 as long as the NPC's are the only thing in front of me within range.

NPC's drop fast ... keep switching targets to the target with the highest HAM left, while you're Fanshotting him, his weaker buddies will be dieing all around him.

Fanshot is faster and less powerfull than Stopping shot when used against a single target.

Against multiple targets the AOE effect fanshot has is king.

you do more damageper second when using fanshot as opposed to stopping shot. But people like to see specials that do more damage per hit.

A key mapped to the macro "/dump". It is to stop your macro so you can perform a different action.
