I am a hologrinder.... naturally I'm grinding through smuggler and pistoleer. Right now I'm a novice pistoleer and I also qualify for smuggler ( I have the unarmed reqs). My goal is to get through pistolleer and smuggler as fast as possible.

I've been reading the pistoleer forums pretty extensively and I'm seeing basically the best way to grind out pistoleer would be to get fan shot, then AE quenkers? I also hear that getting 'last ditch' shot from dirty fighting 4 in smuggler is worth my time to help me grind out pistoleer.

So my questions is:How should I grind out both these professions, since they help out each other? Should I do smuggler's dirty fighting 4 first or just stick to pistoleer and hold out for fan shot?

Thoughtful replies would be appreciated!

I found that with the exception of the knockdown/panic the smuggeler skills did not help me with the xp, and now that panic breaks on damage to target I would master pistoleer before spendingxp on smuggeler skills. I have also noticed that lastditch does bot kill as fast as the body shots which are targeted at the health pool. (Use BS2 until you reach master because it has a higher dps than BS3 until you get the speed +20 from the master box)

Pistoleer then smuggler. Without the pistoleer speed and accuracy smuggler pistol skills are not as effective.

What EcadMistfiler saidis correct. After I mastered Pistoleer, Smuggler took me 3 days. You just need to slice like there is no tomrrow and Smuggler is easy after Mastering Pistoleer.

I'd have to agree with Ecad on this one. If you are grinding through both professions, go pistoleer first. Go up the shots track in Pistoleer first in the prof. Fanshot definetely helps. The Smuggler shots will help, most of the pistoleer shots are terrible IMHO, but the Smuggler shots rarely hit for me until I got the aiming, and accuracy bonuses from Pistoleer. Another thing to keep in mind--the right tool for the right job. When I was working on DF a long time ago, I got into a hunting party on Dath. This was before the Rancor neutering so they had 100% resist to heat. Newb me was unaware and only packed an FWG5 for the trip. ZERO exp. per kill. ZERO!!!!. So, once you get Nov. Pistoleer, spend some money and get at least one of every type of damage pistol you can use. Hope this helps.

To Do List:
[ X ] Master Smuggler profession
[ X ] Buy JTL so I can have a personal spaceship to Smuggle goods
[ ] Wait until Smuggler Revamp to be able to actually Smuggle well, ANYTHING.
Well, SOE? I've done MY part.

Go to your local bazaar and purchase 20 locked containers from wherever you can get them.

Take Novice Smuggler, and using Molecular Clamps slice allof themto get Slicing 1.

Now head to Dantooine with a FWG5 and some nice armour and slice the missionterminal at the starport. Take the first Savage Quenker mission you see and keep refreshing till you get another one in the same direction. If this takes you over 1 min 30 seconds wait and slice the terminal again.

Go kill the Savage Quenkers.

Head back to the mission terminal and slice it again. Take some more SQ missions. By the time you've got to the top of your second tree in pistol you'll have enough slicing exp to take Slicing 2.

If you keep doing it this way by the time you have Master Pistoleer, Dirty Fighting 4 and Underworld 4 you should have enough exp for slicing 3 and then you just set to work on a couple of crates of CDEF's to finish the slicing tree.

Then just under 2 hours with a decent crafting macro doing spicesand you will be a master smuggler.

The reason that it's important to get Smuggler first is that most people have downtime for one reason or another, waiting for friends, shuttles, the 30 seconds after destroying the second Savage Quenker lair till you can spawn your vehicle etc. This is perfect time to be slicing and spicing.

I'm a Master Smuggler and Master Gunfighter, and the only smuggler special I use currently is lowblow(the KD shot)...it's a great addition to the pistoleer skills. Panicshot use to be great, but as the others have mentioned, the last patch nerfed it to the point to were it's pretty much useless.

To answer your question, I agree with the others, work on pistols first.

Ahh so thats why this is taking forever...im putting points into both so I guess IM going to hold Smuggler pistol XP for now and put that to Pistoleer. Glad I found out, right now I'm Smuggler 1/2/2/2 Pistoleer 1/2/2/2.

Whats good is that I can slice missions and make more loot and FP's and make spice for the missions still but Im gonna pour all points into pistol instead of dirty...was holding off on underworld anyway.

With the recent changes to panic shot ... I would say do Pistoleer ... then do smuggler before you drop your pistoleer.

go 0/0/4/0, 0/4/4/0, 4/4/4/4 (the last column will go up as you progress through all of your experience.

/changes to this answer ... very good idea ... focus on pistoleer ... but dabble in smuggler while doing it.
