look at your range mods on the gun... I'm not positive, but I believe that most are negative accuracy and the ideal range is really close in. That could be your problem.

The republic blaster has the worst, or at least close to it, accuracy of any gun in the game. If you look at a republic blaster it usually shows something like this.
Point Blank: +0 @0m
Ideal: 0m -27
Max Range 64m 0
This is deceiving because

Point Blank: +0 @0m
Ideal:-39 @ 0m
Max Range: +0 @64m
Notice how the point blank and ideal modifiers are both at 0m. This is deceiving because the actual accuracy is -39m at all distances, I have verified this by shouting at various targets and watching the accuracy modifier, it doesn't change no matter how far away you stand and it is very low. every gun has its advantages and disadvantages, the republic blaster is still a pretty good gun even if you miss quite a bit. However only hitting 1 out of 5 shots seams a bit rediculus.

You really shouldn't be missing that much. I use the Rep. Blaster as my primary PvE gun and rarely miss. If you are talking about PvP then you are probably shooting at stacker template players which can sometimes be seemingly impossible to hit with any gun. I dueled a fencer friend of mine to test out my Geo Blaster, I stood at Ideal range and he wasn't moving or anthing. I didn't hit him once out of like15 shots. It was aweful.

When I'm at range, I'll start with the Republic, as mine seems to have the best mods of my various pistols at a distance. When they get closer, I switch to another pistol as the close-in mods are pretty bad.
