Thread: DX2 Pistol
I think it's also because you have to be a Master Weaponsmith to make one, and while people are quickly working up some of the weaponsmith branches, I think it's highly unlikely anyone has mastered all 4 branches yet. I'm sure there were some in Beta, but it's difficult to say whether Beta stats would still be worth anything.
That said, swgcenter.com lists a DX2 as 60-90 dmg, 12 wnd, 8 ir, 64 mr, 25/-30/-90, 3.5 sp, 20/35/13.
I'd wager that was a very basic model, not a fully experimented one.
I've seen DX2s since release and they're nothing to write home about.
Here are the stats of two pistols made by the same crafter:
dx2 26/40/15 65-102
fwg5 11/35/17 43-154
The DX2 drains from the two most needed pools upto twice as much as the fwg and the damage isn't very impressive.
Well that's quite dissapointing... What I have now is a FWG5 which is 35-137 speed 2.5 12/27/11 or something similar to that. Are you saying this is the most dmg I can ever do as a pistoleer? I mean there is no skills in the pistoleer tree that increase damage or any new pistol cetifications. I haven't even gotten to novice pistoleer yet (only Pistol specialist in the marksman tree) and it's already maxed out (or close to it)?
And I don't really need to go any further as I rarely ever miss, even the hardest creatures. The only benefit I can see is the ranged defense but not too many things shoot with a blaster (except for in PvP I guess). I guess there's bodyshot 3 at master pistoleer but it doesen't really seem worth working through all that just for 1 skill...Is there something else I'm missing here?
From the strategy guide which shows the possible minimums and maximums of each weapon:
DX2 Pistol- Min damage 60 Max damage 90 Attack speed 3.5
Special moves cost- health 20 action 35 mind 13
It does acid damage and the small spread of minimum/maximum makes it a pretty consistent weapon.
The argument that the first DX2 pistols on the market will be lame because they haven't been experimented on seems bogus. It takes a Master Weaponsmith to make a DX2 and a Master already has all the experiment points she'll ever have. So the FIRST person to make a DX2 can make as good a one as there will ever be.
It's true that some experiments will succeed more than others, and some people will use betterresources than others. But the spread should be a lot smaller than for the other weapons, where some people rushed to get the schematic but neglected the experimentation skill ladder. They could build the weapons first, but they sure sucked at it.
I am a master weapon smith on BLoodfin. I am currently making 56-120 @ 1.9 speed scout blasters 11/23/11 HAM.
My next ones I will be making are around 60-122 @ 1.7 speed .
I can improve these further possibly by using advanced power handlers(have to find all ingredients) and advanced pistol barrels(ingredients) .
I Havent made any DX2 but i don't think it will be that bad since it doesnt require any steel or iron... just metal and titanium aluminum(i havent found titanium aluminum yet)>
I use a 58-145 1.9 scout. And BTW all the pistols anyone has compared the DX2 have been experimented on which makes all ur points void.
Anyway one thing u area all missing is damage type... DX2s are ACID, FWG5s suck because they are HEAT, most other pistols are energy
