You are using to many RL comparisons. you need to go to the movies or use EU as a source and if you were to do that you would find that weapons types mostly used are Carbines and Pistols ( not saying that rifle has no place ), but it seems to me you are emphasizing weaponry on what you know of in your experience of our own modern day weaponry, which is ludicrous. You need to remember these weapons are nothing like what our modern soldiers or Gun owners are using. If you go back to the movies, Han Solo was able to own ST's with just his trusty blaster at his side, according to your view of warfare he would have needed something else to compliment him ( " great addition to any class, but not that good alone " ). Also besides Chewie how many rifles did you see make it's way into the movie. Standard issue for the ST's is a carbine. All I'm trying to say is that all ranged as a stand alone prof should have it's place on the battlefield and your remark that pistols are, " great addition to any class, but not that good alone ", is just a lil unsettling to me.
hehe
Weapons in Star Wars are not equivalent to real world weapons of similar names.
Blasters are powered by tobanna gas cartridges, they are not lasers.
The major differences between pistols, carbines, and rifles in the star wars universe are:
Range
Accuracy
Magazine capacity
Speed one can fire the weapon without overheating it
RAMS for short
SWG opted to not have ammunition system< really wished they would have had one, would have limited specials spammed by how much ammo you have on you. However in Lucas's Star Wars these weapons used ammo and did not have unilimited charges to be shot at will.
You will find pistols in the SW universe that are heavy armor piercing
You will find carbines that are heavy armor piercing
You will find rifles that are heavy armor piercing etc... in the SW universe
The major difference in these weapons are their accuracy at ideal ranges and ammo capacity and speed in which the weapon can be safely fired without overheating it.
In other words every one of these weapons has a time and placewhen it is the most powerful.
Pistoleers in the star wars universe were as feared as any fighter. They are more of a front line fighter than a rifleman is, rifleman are long range and are the support fire for the close range fighters, you know the grunts?
um! I used to use some of the same arguments as you all, im a carbineer.
no rifles, like the blasteck E-11 RIFLE, clonetrooper DC-15 RIFLE, ect, ect, ect. they are all the main weapons of the main infantry. carbines are not used by manny troops. none accualy in starwars, eccept on rare ocation, but they never had reel SPEC-OPS guys in it so that leaves carbinneer a nice role, and it fits RL to to an ectent.
as for pistols, no main troops used pistols in starwars!!!!!! only officers, scout troopers(light pistols easy to carry), leah, han, and luke. o and Jango fett. but he was well trained.
even Boba Fett used a rifle. the EE3. yes the EE3 is a RIFLE.
o and laser weapons are powerd by gas. calling them plasma weapons is correct, calling them lasers is corect. the lasser blast is focused into a bolt, more powerfull and effficiant in smaller weapobns. there are some beem weapons but they are rare and much harder to build and maintain ossumably.
i win the argument. ps:this ius not even my full level of knoledge. dont try to win,you wont.
pps:i cant spell well, its a disability.
Challenge taken and i can spell!
I warn you i watched SW a New Hope before it was called a new hope and when it was in theatres back in 1977.
Read every single SW novel and comic book too.
Did i say pistoleers are soldiers? lol
A gunfighter is not a soldier but no less deadly, perhaps youd like to read about characters like the Infamous Gallandro.
Anyway, Please quiz me oh wise one.
