This might be somewhat over extravagant to afford a new thread to this, but I'm egotistical enough to think that the things I say and do on this forum make a difference of any sort, so I'm just gonna go for it.

If the Devs ask for an overall feel and role for the pistoleer profession, please be kind enough to direct them to this description. It epitomises everything I think of a pistoleer being and feeling.

The following is taken directly from the official SWG strategy guide from Prima. It is the description for the Pistoleer profession.

" 'Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.'

For the Pistoleer, no truer words could be spoken. While the rifle has the better range and the carbine is a good all-around weapon, when the tactics break down and the lines blend, it is the Pistoleer who can make the difference.

Any kid can blast a bottle of Corillian ale off a fencepost in broad daylight. The Pistoleer can shoot six out of the air while on the run at night and shoot the seventh out of your hand before you have a chance to throw it. It is a harsh galaxy out there and this profession has the abilities to survive it.

Increased rate of fire and increased accuracy both while standing and on the move are some of the perks of this profession's disciplines. In addition, because of the close combat work involved, the Pistoleer enjoys bonuses to melee defense and an increased chance to dodge an attack. Eventually, the increased speed and accuracy a Pistoleer gains allow accurate attacks on multiple enemies at once.

Placing a shot accurately is fine, but if the area aimed at was not vital, the result could be the same as a miss. The Pistoleer knows where toshoot to drop a target quickly and effectively - if somewhat noisily and messily.

While easily reached, this profession is difficult to master. Some move on to other interests, others get distracted by the fame and fortune made available without mastering everything to do with a pistol. Only fools laugh at the Master Pistoleer.

That was a funny joke their. What accuracy?

Yeah, if we had a working attack that did that. (or a working attack period)

Our speed is less that that of a rifleman at master. I almost fell out of my chair laughing.

Only fools laugh at the Master Pistoleer.

Just did.

Just elaborating a little for you.

I agree, if pistoleer worked like that description, we would be 10000 times better. Unfortunatly, that strategy guide makes the game sound BETTER. If the GCW were as good as it was in there, I would love this game a lot more. If the professions were as good, this game would rule.

Pistoleer is so broke, it aint funny anymore. Just make us like rifleman, and I will be happy, except with more speed.

Perhaps the Devs should be handed a coppy and asked to make the game more akin to the over generous descriptions within it.

Heh, strategy guides aren't allowed to say "this skill is worthless, steer clear" or anything like that. They are more intended to make everything sound good. They seldom even have worthwhile strategy - that same SWG guide says to start a fight at 64m with a rifle, then switch to a carbine, then switch to a pistol. I guess it might work if you wanted to inefficiently get master marksman.

That quote is an excellent example of what Pistoleers were meant to be. I'll find a place to use it...

Great, many thanks
