Thread: Is Point Blank Area 2 better than Fan Shot?

Heya -- just a hologrinder here trying to learn/plan a little better for all the pistol xp I need to get (3 trees pistol, 2 trees smuggler, 900k saved for BH). I am currently moving up the techniques line toward Fan Shot because that seems to be the consesus best style. However, after limited testing of PBA1, Iwas wondering if perhapsPBA2 might be better than Fan Shot assuming I just run in the middle ofa batch of savage quenkers, hit the lair and spawn 4-6 to fight at once?
For now, I'm just spamming HS2 because that still seems quicker than PBA1, but I know with other profs I have done (namely Fencer and Pikeman) once you get that second AE style (spin2 on fencer/pike) you can really tear up multiple targets fast....I was hoping PBA2 would be similar rather than having to depend on the Fan Shot "cone".
I apologize for starting a new thread for this, but I didn't see any mention of PBA2 in the FAQ and limited info on the style on other posts.
PS -- as long as I am here, where do people get these 300 max damage pistols I see referred to in threads? I picked up a Republic Blaster, FWG5 and DX2 to give me a decent arsenal and may grab a Tangle pistol if savage quenker stun resist is below 15% (heat/acid are 15%), but I don't remember off the top of my head. Anyway, I think the max damage on any of the pistols I got is in under 220...did I get screwed or am I missing something? (the weaponsmith I am using has seemed to be very reliable for having good stuff in the past)

the high max damage pistols are made with rare loots like krayt tissues. for 300+ damage, it's gotta be a good tissue too (the value of the tissues is as random as the drops).
one key question is-- does pba1 or pba2 do a cone? or circle? i just finished swordsman, and spin2 was a circle. that made it extremely useful in pve, as mobs tend to circle around you. to use fanshot, you'll have to run away from them to get them in a cone. that means accuracy gets reduced by movement.
assuming pistol speed 54 (max without master pistol, bh dabble, or sea's), fanshot is superior in dps from pba2.

From my testing, PBA1 does damage in a circle spreading out to about 8m. Although it seems to damage those behind you a bit less than those in front of you, unlike brawler profs....but keep in mind, this is very limited testing on my part.
