Let's say I shoot at someone with my 100-592 fwg5, and they have ranged Damage Mitigation 3. What sort of bad things will it do to my pistol?

From the knowledge base:

"With damage mitigation it reduces the RANGE of damage.

The flipside to this means that Minimum Damage is now much more important than before, so your favorite weapon (a 60-500 Krayt modified pistol, for example) might have significant disadvantages in some situations."

I think the 100-592 pistol vs ranged mitigation 3:

damage reduced to 100-236 range...

here's the kicker...

does Ranged Mitigation actually refer to someone using a ranged weapon on you? I have a feeling it's the mitigation against melee and ranged attacks alike, but named Ranged Mitigation because it is given to ranged professions and only valid while you are holding a ranged weapon.

i have a question: does mitigation apply in PvE? when i'm in PVP i get messages that mitigation has lowered the damage, but i don't get that message in PVE...

I think it's bugged. I don't even get it in pvp.

Thread: I never did quite understand Damage Mitigation, so can someone help me out?
