I have been pistol even since Beta and it used to be a great & versatile profession. Now, with uber buffs and too high resist composite simply makes this profession quite useless. I been probably one of the oldest pistoleer in this game but it comes time to try something that may add some punch. As you all figured my decision is PvP based, good luck to you all.

As someone who recently dropped MBH I agree with you. Amazing how if you try to deviate from the 'uber' templates and be unique you get penalized in PVE and PVP....

About the composite and resists we just got a geo blaster w/ stun dmg. If I were you I would have waited until after the combat revamp.

I agree with you all it sucks that if you want to be different you have to suck as well. I dropped Bh/pistoleer a while ago and went to fencer. Its **edit**ing stupid that the only way for a pistoleer to be effective in pvp is to have millions of credits to buy a krayt geno pistol, with stun armor and all. Carbines dont even have a stun weapon. There are only 3 professions at the moment that can be effective in pvp without having a rich crafter alt, fencer, rifleman and cm. I'm not saying that they need a nerf, im saying that something needs to be done about dmg types, and armor.

Not sure about the Geno blaster, in duels I watch, the person that pulls out the Geo blaster first also tends to be the one who loses

Yeah but when is this combat revamp? They laid out their plans for months, no combat revamp listed, then said they'd be taking their time with the combat revamp. Why not start with the revamp on test center then? It's like it was just forgotten. You could drop pistoleer, master something else, and by the time they they'd finally announce the revamp, you'd have time to remaster pistoleer again.
I would be surprised if this combat revamp comes before January.

The one downside to waiting for the combat revamp is that, truthfully, who knows when the combat revamp will be. Those of us that came into the game as Pistoleers at launch have been waiting, and waiting, and then for a change we have done a heckuva lot more waiting. So I can totally understand the frustration that many have had to face, and why some have chosen to drop Master and seak out new professions (especially for PvP).
I was a Master Pistoleer, BH Pistols III, Novice Medic for near 10 months, and just recently got rid of the BH line to try out some new templates. While I don't use my pistols too much now since my speed is horrible with all my guns (sorry, not one of those guys that has the time to farm for skill attachments or make billions to buy said attachments or tapes), I've found renewed enjoyment in the game with a bit of change.
I will not drop Master Pistoleer unless something amazingly drastic ever happend. I cam into the game wanting to be a Master of Pistols, and Master of ... well SOME Pistols with gimped speedI will remain until further changes.
I just hope that the combat revamp does in fact address the problems in not just Pistoleer, but all of the other professions that have major balance problems.

I hear ya galdwin. There have been many a time when I wanted to drop pistols for something else. However, my current character build was the one I have based all my RP around. and have had in my mind since the days of the beta forums To change it now would seem odd and out of character. I just can't see my little bothan smuggler running in with a carbine or a rifle. I see him ducking out the back door fanning his pistol to get away from the law.

Well, you can look on the bright side, MP is supposed to be a great tank on the Corvette (thanks to ranged mitigation and dodge.)
Not sure how ranged defense factors into that though...
